Guys, thanx for all your input, much appreciated.
Let's see this as the inaugural running of this challenge/competition, or see it as a Pilot program
From just floating an idea about 3 weeks ago we have 16 teams from Australia wide, with another 5 teams thinking about entering, and one of those teams, being an all women's team. I haven't counted but it's around 80+ (Just counted 84) individuals have registered with another 20 or so having expressed interest. There are a lot of windsurfers that don't even know about this site.
I have been approached by 5 sponsors who are all interested and see the potential of this challenge, I have been notified, that there are another 2 sponsors interested. So you can see we have tapped into something. I'm an ideas man, I can lead and inspire, but I'm not necessarily a very good manager, so that side of things, will probably be legitamately criticised. be patient, and if this works it can be bigger and better next year, we could even go international

.
Re Rules, Getting the best sponsorsip etc I can't say I'm either experienced or very good at it. I hope no-one is mortgaging their house on this comp? Don't take it too seriously just yet, but for those that want it desperately serious, then let's build something here, and see what we can do for next year!!!
There are many possibilities for 2008.
If we see this as a pilot, we can work out what rules work and what don't, and what people want out of this.
We may get a ranking system out of the pilot challenge and run 2, 3 or 4 divisions next year, from seriously competitive, fun competitive, to just social teams. So you serious guyz, and I encourage you to be as competitive as possible on the water, and use this as an oppurtunity to get a ranking for next year. (Who wants to be in Division 1!!!!!) Different sponsors could then sponsor different divisions.
The possibilities are endless.
This has arisen for several reasons. One, the internet, and the forum on this site. 2 GPS which provides an objective measure. And most importantly our passion for the sport!!!!
Remember the philosophy: Inclusiveness; Participation; Fun; and Building Relationships.
You hotshots think about this: Some of the lesser competitors will feel great just being in a team with you. Your speeds will lift the team average, and they will cheer for you. You have an oppurtunity to mentor, to educate, and to inspire. Put some value on these things, I think they matter even more than winning.
PS. I'm organising to blow up the sandy point sandbar!
