Hi, am considering buying the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar. The chipset is the same than in the forerunner and both have same Multi Band Dual Frequency SatIQ GPS. In fact both watches are built using same tech. Just different design with additional solar battery in the Instinct 3. Am not planning to post on the GPS Team Challenge . Although not tested , can you advise if in your opinion the GPS speed results from the Instinct 3 could be comparable to the Forerunner you have now approved ?
If you are not posting to GPSTC, it does not really matter much. I am sure if it uses the same chipset as the 965 it should give similar results. I am sure I would be happy with the results from it for my personal use.
The main problem here is if you want to post to GPSTC. The watch you are considering may have great GPS data, but it is quite an effort for it to be approved so not really worth it unless you are very committed. It is just easier to get an approved device if you are buying anyway and want to use it for GPSTC.
