What I still don't understand is why this hasn't happened in kiting?
In terms of aerials they (kites) are landing some strapless back loops now, but there will be limits on what they can do strapless as controlling the board in the air during rotations is very difficult.
If you want to open your eyes and see someone doing
double back loops strapless and massive punts on a kiteboard take a look at this! No windsurfer in the world could make 25 knots onshore look this fun, and he's only been kiting 3 years.
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/General/kite-wave-byron/Robby Naish saw the future when he got into kiteboarding :)
The way that appeared, it looked like you were deliberately misquoting me, but it looks like it may have been an accident due to the way quotes work.
I was talking about landing a backloop strapless without holding the board and landing back on the same wave. I haven't seen a kiter do the double back loop and land back on the same wave yet.
I'm happy to acknowledge the great progress kiters have made in strapless riding - its so good it looks like magic is keeping the board on in some of the aerials, and they can get tubed, switch stance etc.
Windsurfers still havent got tubed yet.
In onshore wind kiting and riding waves is better than windsurf wave riding in onshore.
In cross-off, the bigger and better the waves are, the more circumstances swing in favour of windsurfing.
It may well be that kiters will find a way to overcome the cross-off wind disadvantage - I hope they do.
I'm not interested in a serious way in the comparison between windsurfing and kiting but it does make for a bit of fun banter between the two. As said before different people enjoy different things, or the same things and whatever you get the most fun from wins.
