looking at the rest of the pics in that noumea series the kiter in the gath is completely kooking it on that wave in nearly every shot. poo stance, off balance, ballet boosting away from the lip, riding way out in front, death gripping the ends of the bar.....and what the hell is this?:

The fkn kiter is the dood who must control the manouver...... there is a criss cross period of a split second........ kiter boy has to time his slash to the dragon and his med strings to avoid the polie puller and if you carnt do that with confidence back to the shallow end .... and OR you slide out of control, OR get boast and dragged into the windsurfer dood.

when wave riding you generally stay in the critical section of the wave, wether your whacking the lip carving or boosting. if you hit the section and boost way out into the sholder (where the rest are retuning to the line up) you are the biggest kook of all.

Stay in the pocket not on the sholder!

as far the first shot goes there is so much comitment in a air over a section like that you can hardly be looking down the line to see who is dropping in you, and if someone does put themselves there well they are the one causing the dangerouse situation and should probably have had a little chat to them, thats if the fins havent done the talking for you.

I reckon the dancer in the pic is totally awestruck by the kiter's waveriding. ^^^
He's thinking; "Damn, I wish I had my camera on me."
You can see he's purposely sailing out really slowly.
He's fully chugging, the mast is standing straight-up like some kind of carbon hard-on.
He's making sure to take it all in...really appreciating the kiter's style.

Dont know what rule you use Mr P C,maybe thats the problem your having,everyone thinks their rule is right?

At our local,and everywhere else around here, who ever turns and takes the swell first owns it.Which is usually the guy furtherest out to sea.
If he lets any wave pass,the next person can snap it up.
If you go by surfing rules, whos on the inside, it just dosent work kiteing or dancing.
If you use whos on the inside(surfing rules), you could have picked up a swell 300m out,riding it in then some one just heading out on the inside of you could turn onto it and call you off??????surfing rule,closest to the breaking wave owns it.
Wont work with wind sports.

We never have any problems around here like you guys complain about all the time.
Maybe you all need to have a chat on the beach with each other and make sure your all on the same page.
What rule are you working to P C Simpson if not first to turn onto it has claimed it?

LoW, I agree, first on is the owner. That is what my understanding has been in my 23 years of windsurfing, and it seems to be the rule at all other beaches that I have sailed at around oz. Kiters at my local think otherwise, using the surfing rule, which means I snaffle one out the back and ride to the peak to start DTL, and they snake inside and try and call me off after I have been on the wave/swell for prob 50m. Spoke about it on the beach after an incident, and they disagree and aint going to change.

So long as I dont hit someone, if I am on it first, they can continue to get their little pink knickers in a twist.

The first onto the wave does work if everyone is powered up and planning around, BUT as with alot of good wave riding days, windsurfers are not always planning or some even intentionally not planning to wait for a wave to pass to get the next in the set sitting in the right spot ready to take off.

So by the first onto the wave rule, some one can sail or kite just pass this person stalling out, gybe onto the wave and claim it, although the other person has intentionally waited for it. This is why this rule will and does cause friction between kiters and sailors.. actualy anyone snaking people like this..

I would not use the first onto the wave in places like Margs or there would be some real problems later in the car park..

P.S i'm actually from N.S.W and can kite i just prefer not too..

kited with 1/2 dozen + polies and 2 other kiters a couple of weeks ago at $%*#@* and every body was quite courteous no issues tack out the back and join the line up first screaming down the face wins was plenty of waves to go around and this was my first time with dancers ,25kn+ all i could see were teeth
