Windwarrior, its just a simple case of Polakow being a business man and having a responsibility to promote JP boards. He's hardly going to encourage people to buy Quatro boards, which he would be doing if he happily told people that his boards are actually Quatros.
It would be like u selling Windwarrior rashies that were actually rebadged Quiksilver rashies. That would actually make me buy one if I could find a way to peel the Windwarrior logo off to reveal the QS logo.

I remember when JP first brought out those boards with the channel in the bottom. He was quoted as saying that it was a great feature and really helped the performance. A close look at one of his actual customs showed the "channel" was just a sticker making it look like there was a channel. Don't know if that was the case for all of them, but it sure was for that one. For what its worth, those first channel boards were pretty good anyway so I'm not bagging the guy.

I think Levi has the smoothest style. He is so relaxed compared to the others, he doesn't attack, he flows. Looks like he is completely enjoying himself and not competing with anyone or anything. A soul surfer.

Jp told everyone himself on the video interviews on the boardseeker website. He was interviewed back in Guincho last year and had been on the (Kieth T)twin fin for quite a few months at that stage.
This sort of stuff has been going on for ever. When Jp was sponsored by F2 he had island unique shape his boards.
Most pros have a budget to have X number of boards made per year by anyone as long as they are painted right to look like the brand sponsor.

I can't wait for the brochure hype in 2009 telling us a board is shaped by "a" when it was clearly made by "B". Will they tell the truth or con everyone with marketing.
I don't think the JP brochure is going to say their new twinny was developed by Keith at Quatro.

Im not sure why this has turned into a jp vs quatro issue? Anyone in the know admits that ALL pros ride customs, regardless of who there sponsor is or who the shaper is. Personally Im glad for this fact as the pros need to be pushing the boundaries of performance constantly and the shapers need to be tweaking the shapes constantly to keep up, and it is from all this testing that the progress comes down the line to us in the production market each season. If they werent constantly riding and trying new boards the progress each year would be nil.
The classic example is the twinfins that everyone on maui is riding at the moment, they are all customs and seem to be heading in an interesting direction, so alot of the manufacturers are bringing twinnies into their production line up next season.
I personally want the pros to be riding the newest customs and as many as they can, because by prodution time they have sorted the possitives and negatives of all the boards that have been ridden and tested, and turn it into the new season production board for their sposors. Giving the consumer the benefit of the years testing.
Oh, and you think kauli was ridding production quatros for the last couple of years???

I think drawn out big wave pin tail guns will be back in once enough twin fins have been sold.

I was having a look and chat to Levi about his twin fin boards and the tails are quite straight and narrow and the outline curve is more up the front of the board definatelty for a bigger wave, the twins loosen up the straighter outline in the tail.
Pretty sure Kauli's boards would influence the productions at least you know the boards he's ripping on are closer to the productions of that company.

Gotta agree with you Dan, that did look a lot like Levi on the Goya sail.

Getting back to the original post though, Kauli did look pretty sloppy on his new gear, maybe just some teething problems.

I thought compared to other videos you see of Kauli it was pretty sloppy by his standards. Could be wave quality I guess.
