i just did a google image search on "if it feels good, do it."

most of them are irrelevent or unsuitable!

might be unavailable for a few hours.

Not offended one bit, but it doesn't add up.

If 50% of those who kite are gay, plus 30% who are women, what accounts for the remaining 20%?

The remaining 20% are all straight.

I was thinking more of bi-s or undecided, people who voted twice on different sex, etc. I rejected outright that as many as 20% might be straight.

Hi all,

Many windsurfers think that kitesurfing has taken over the world, but I'd like to share some simple knowledge that this is just a mis perception. The objective reality, and this may shock some of you, is that there are more windsurfers than kitesurfers. If not, then a bigger interest in windsurfing.

I also believe windsurfing is changing big time and is about to go through a growth spurt soon.

What sort of fairyland are you living in ?

I think the fact that there are no such soul-searching/some thing to prove posts in the kite forums speaks volumes... Fact is that kiteboarders do not in any way feel threatened by the "surging" popularity of windsurfing, but judging by these posts it's evident that windsurfers sure feel threatened by the popularity of kiteboarding.

I feel threatened by strings and half deflated giant Coles bags in the way when sailing in gnarly waves after being dropped in on by some kook teabagger.

The similarity to a coles shopping bag is a bit of a worry. What if a passing whale mistakes it for a giant jellyfish and tries to eat it !!! The whale could get very sick !!

"more popular" doesn't necessarily translate to "better".

VB is Australia's most "popular" beer (around 25% total market), but many drinkers out there consider VB as "mega swill" (a term often used on brewing websites) - a mass produced light coloured beer with a narrow flavour profile.

IMO, the two sports are beyond comparison. Windsurfing is based on sailing (mast, boom, sail & board/craft) and kitesurfing is not. The only thing they have in common is the water they participate on.

Cheers!

Ur misunderstood. Threatened not by kiteboarders mate, but threatened by the idea that windsurfing is fading out. But... as we can see it's not! :):)

I also vote windsurfers as some of the most secure folk on the water. They don't bitch and complain or fight like little girls, they pretty chilled and confident. I met a varsity girl on the weekend, she started windsurfing like 3 years ago or so and she said she likes it because it's so manly. :O

That's because windsurfers are easy to live with but kiteboarders are a water hogging plague.

^^^^ I shouldn't say stuff like that. I don't mean it.

For the record I personally don't have a problem with kites. All the people I know who kite are reasonable and don't cause me any grief.

WTF is it with people ?

Beatles vs Stones, Betamax vs VHS, Apple vs Windows, Blueray vs. Hi Def DVD

Who cares what others are doing if you're happy with what you're doing ?

If all you can focus on is what others are doing or what's trendy, then you probably have something missing in your life [}:)]

Wrong examples you give: those things you mention above happen in other people's homes, of course one gives not a rat's arse.

But some activities in some confined areas greatly interfere with windsurfing and people walking their dogs, and in some places have caused whole spots to be closed.

Good point! And doesn't it just feel good to be part of something that is just so much better than something else? Like wouldn't it suck if you were a fan of the Tata F1 and ur team was allways last... and doesn't it just feel so qood when you'r part of the Ferrari team and they are always kicking ass. lol It just makes you wana shout out. na na na na na... and I suppose that's what feels cool.

Anyway there is a bit of rivalry between windsurfing and kitesurfing. In the end as long as no one takes it too seriously then everyone has a bit of fun and keeps the grey matter ticking over.

i kinda dont get it. kiting just does not appear to be as much fun as being overpowered on the ocean doing 30kn launching over the back of swells a km out to sea. correct me if im wrong. going slower and doing lifts ( they dont look like jumps) just doesnt tickle my tiller.

each to their own.
