So the guys at the 3rd Italian National Race in Cagliar you mentioned, did they use duct tape and foam or electrical tape and foam to fix the problem? Which would work better?

Kiting is a dangerous sport and it is on the decline. Can you get kite injury insurance ?

Gorilla tape is better and cheaper than sail tape !

Any pictures..? Very frustrated with difficulty of using centre board on lt

pulled one flap off to ease getting cb up and down. Already use silicon spray

cheers jefff

silicone grease (plumbers grease) not spray, the spray does not leave enough on the surface.

Go back to your supplier and get new Gaskets, maybe they are just too stiff, the new gaskets are more workable!

I thought the LT was a one design and no modifications were allowed. How much are we allowed to change??

The fact that a class is a one design doesn't mean you can't change anything. Look at boats - in plenty of one design classes you can change hull material, sailcloth, sail camber, fittings, etc. Even Lasers allow you to change tillers, control lines, etc.

Grease will adversely affect centerboard performance, but it's an LT so it's probably not noticeable.

Since you have never sailed or raced a Windsurfer Class race on an LT you don't really know what you are saying. Any improvement to operation of the equipment can assist a transition and may mean for example you manage to make up ground on an opponent or get ahead of your opponent at the mark rounding as you head upwind after the downwind leg. Your ignorance is astounding as performance in one design sailing is relative. Success is the result of preparing your equipment and yourself for the optimal performance in the field of one design racing.

I have heard some who have shaved the hair off their tennis ball, which they are using to repair this design fault in the LT dagger board, so to cut down on wind resistance which gives them an advantage over the ones who havent shaved their balls.

I've heard if you wear booties you don't have to use a tennis ball !

is kiting on the decline? That's good news - actually, come to think of it, you really don't see as many newbie kiters now as compared to a decade ago.

Empirical evidence suggests so. For example, at least one ageing kiter has dropped the sport in favour of trolling on windsurfing websites and knocking the LT. It is a better sport for him and easier on an ageing body.
