[OMF'gG FormularNova, Does this mean you'll soon be changing your user name to FattyFlow!!
It could already be FattyNova!
....and I thought I was brave reshaping a nose or two!!
I guess if you're gonna attempt a project like that, you might as well start with a quality set up!

(good old flow)
I reckon this would be a great way of making a kids learning board cheaply, that would end up very stable and light weight and similar in shape to a young gun etc. It probably wouldn't matter if it wasn't that strong either, if it was for subplaning and then light wind planing with a kid on it.
I too have a Bic Nova that the kids are learning on, and wonder whether a young gun may have been a better option.
This one's for me, and needs to be strong! I expect to make it at least as strong as any other board I own. With the use of double screw footstrap inserts it will also be a board that doesn't have twisted straps!
I learnt a lot on a Bic Nova and still have it. It was my first 'modern' board, although I really had my balance sorted from sailing one design type boards first. It was a good start for someone my weight and the width makes it very stable.
I don't know if you have tried it, but with mine I bought a 50cm pointer fin for it, and minus the front fin, it really gets up and goes. It is very much like a formula board in the way it behaves except for the extra 8kgs of weight in it.
The padded deck, like the Go makes it pretty easy on the knees too.
We'd love to see more pics as the project unfolds.
I have gotten further than the photos show, so I might do a few more bits and post up some more in a separate thread.
