That it's up to date or not, it's up to the ass'n and its board, I suppose.

But a forum is a forum, and should not represent an association IMO, esp. in the context of Seabreeze.

This debate has turned into personal mudslinging, not the place either.
I tend to eschew drama, else I'd watch Coronation Street.

OK! OK! So you know more about my shady past than I have let on ... I admit I have secretly checked out that forum.

This is all part of my cunning plan to destroy the current association and create a new, better Wallyworld which will be a happy, bully-free place, where we can all enjoy Windsurfing and where of course I will be the KING!!! HA HA HA Pity that some think the democratic way is better...

I respectfully disagree. I think there is a huge amount of common ground between all longboards, especially now that the windsurfing market is completely dominated by shortboards. The technique, equipment, history, design issues etc around the majority of longboards is very closely related when one considers how different they are from shortboards.

I don't see so many negative comments that it is a big issue.

"trawl" is the right word. The longboard topics end up getting lost in the mix with all the other general topics including those completely non-windsurf related.

I think the longboard sailors are possibly less vocal as there is not a dedicated forum.

Considering a lot of races around here now include a longboard division I think it would be better than a dedicated OD forum. On the 4th May this year at Lake Cootharaba they had longboard races included and had a good turn out for it from memory. Although the wind wasn't the best the fellow sailors had fun. I would love to have a forum for longboards where us that have started on them can get help without the people screaming blue murder that we are on a longboard and not a shortboard. We all dont have deep pockets in this world. I dont care if I dont have a modern board or Rig, I am just out to have fun on the water like everyone else. I dont care if it takes me another year to progress I am still having fun on the OLD gear. So are my mates who also sail pre 90's gear.

If the forum doesn't happen who cares, if it does happen the better it will be.

I agree that it might not be for everyone but it would make more sense to have a generic longboard forum to take in all classes of boards ( WindSups included, maybe?)

I'd like the title to somehow deliniate that we're not really talking about modern or unrestricted 'development class raceboards'; because that would include Formula (which is already well served by the Seabreeze Windsurfing NSW forum); RS-X (which would be well served by www Niel Pryde); Kona (which has its own www); etc

Well it's some 10 yeahs for a new forum.
Prob. the same 10 who contributed to the one that disappeared.

How does Laurie proceed to start a new forum, does he wait to have so many voters either way ?

How about:

Old School Windsurfers.

This way it would include all old boards not just long boards and OD's as there are a lot of people starting on old freeride gear like myself that I really enjoy using, as well as my old longboards.

I think the forum was too narrow as just windsurfer one-design.

I would like to see the forum back as "longboards" (or something to that effect), which would cover course racing, windsurfer one design, mistral IMCO, Neil Pryde RS, old school freestyle, longboard technique etc etc. More or less anything with a centreboard. I think the interest and volume of traffic (and diversity of topics) would increase significantly.

At the moment the only site to my knowledge is lbwindsurf.com, which is an international site.

Based on the volume of replies to a topic in this section (windurfing- general), this one rates as number three in the last two months (there was a caption comp, which had a higher than normal number of replies- but it included a picture of a female in high heels with a bare backside).
