You jogged my memory of this, its "not my worst moment" but

nearly drowning when caught under the sail and unable to unhook
(I thought of that Houdini trick too but there was no air under the sail and the wind was driving the sail into the water to hard to lift it at all).
Sailing a big board at coral bay, after having a few beers (yes I wouldnt do it now) with a dog on the board. Falling of out in the the bay and having trouble water starting.
Am swimming under the sail trying to push it up out of the water (the wind was light) and wondering why wont it pop out, then see Kelsie (the dog) standing on the sail window watching me treading water underneath it. Funny part was once I got going the dog had to swim the whole way back as she couldnt get a grip to get back up on the board and I wasnt feeling sympathetic enough to help her.

The worst moment was a few years before that, deciding it was a good idea to take my 12' floater out in Cowaramup bay, but then get out the back and cant uphaul (lack of skill). Finally just get the sail up and head back in but am now at the north end of the bay and come in right in the break there (North point I think its called). Sail and board get ripped out of my hands by the breaking wave leaving me bobbing about in my boardies with no idea what to do now, a nice bloke on a ski towed me in and my board / rig all washed up ok. But a lesson learnt by me, know your limitations. If I hadnt got that sail up I would have missed the bay completely and I doubt I would be here now. Only did similar stupid things 2 or 3 times after that
