My trusty uphaul, to say they don't make them like they use to is an understatement. Came with my first custom short board in the early 80s & has travelled the globe. Lives in my kit bag but only use it these days when teaching. Can't believe at nearly 40yrs old its still soft in the hands & has maintained the perfect stretch in it. Might throw it a surprise birthday party later in the year!

c 2004 68ltre Starboard acid waveboard.. I haven't used it recently as I now have the 85ltreWT as my high wind board..
The acid is fast and comfy..I used to fall off the back as it gybed so fast.... I probably still would..
4.2m Sailworks revo wavesail..I used it last week..my 20 -25kts sail

In my case it's my Kilwell matrix 5s, 1 piece, 70% carbon, slightly reduced dia, constant curve, masts from mid 90s.

That looks like a great foil sail. Back when North windsurf sails were actually owned by North sails.

1993 Mistral Equipe CHS and a set of several 2004 and 2000 Mistral 7.4 m2 One Design Race twin cam sails by Gaastra on a 2000 two piece IMCO One Design Mast 495 cm IMCS 30-Flex Top Carbon Content 60%. The 7.4 m2 Mistral race sails are excellent on the Equipe.The Ezzy Lion 3 9.5 m2 works well too but that is 2017.

Still have a lot of other old gear that I wish to ride as well including Mistral Energy CHS 1992, Mistral Screamer 1991 LCS and 5.5 m2 & 6.5 m2 1994 Neil Pryde MKIV World Cup Slaloms on NP 1994 World Cup Carbon 60 Masts.

Tandem speed board built about 1989. Still get it out occaisionally when I can find another Madman to join me.







And I just realised my Carbon Art CA40 speed board is now over 12 years old. Still doing the job with 44 Knots 2 sec a few days ago.

And I still use the even older IS50 every now and then at Lake George for 1hr runs.

I have seen no real eveidence that small speed board designs (under 45 wide) have really advanced in the past 10 years. There is not much to change and it's more about the fin and finding what suits your size, weight and conditions.

I guess that's ancient kit donated to RQYS.
I've never sailed one of those round bottom boards but it must be something like log rolling.

The div 2 is an acquired taste and appreciate my time on one in Canberra.
Great in 10 knots when you are "on the rail" in flat water. In 15 you are smoking upwind but a race board would be fun. Anymore wind and downwind may roll around with occasional swim.
Big ups to people that used to sail them well.
Bruce Kendall won gold at Korea in windy swell but then again he is also a very good wave sailor.

Well my normal ride is AHD Freediamond 149. Around 2000. But ive just picked up a Mistral Explosion 130. 288x58 1994 build. Regripped it. Sailed it last week. Lined up against new gear same size rider n kit. Slogs faster n points higher than new gear, doesnt pop onto plane. Just glides up n goes pretty quick. Potential for good speed once i get it sorted.


YEEEEWWW!! Old is New. At $120 its a bargain retro rocket.

My Regular ride is an explosion owned since new that has deck graphics as per attached, the board I learnt to get into the footstraps on. I regripped it recently but the footstraps are original and only just starting be past their best. As you say, won't just pop onto the plane but once up, it really flys off the fin.

God only knows how many miles it has done. It's 120L but a more modern board with the same size tail and width would be around the 80L - 90L mark from what I can tell.

Showing my vintage a bit but as the shape was part of the no nose revolution, before boards then got a lot shorter, I've never considered it antiquated but when I saw my mate on it a couple of months ago, it looked like he was sailing a longboard.

Shame I've lost the knuckle universal on the timber block which eventually needed jamming into the board with a sock.
It reminds me every time I walk into the house how much I love wind, I hope that counts as old and being used.
