Well, why did you plug a holden panel van? Just a ute with a canopy, which has exactly the same front end as the sedan and wagon.. It's nothing lika a van.. The point I was addressing was the claim that more steel is somehow better...

btw if you had read my other comment you might have noticed that i'm in favour of not having bull bars on cars. the Panelvan comment was meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek. Modern cars have proven to be more safe to occupants and pedestrians alike. i'm not arguing the fact.

This video raised a few eyebrows at work.
Just shows how far we have come in road safety.
Alot of this is directly from the racing industry's push for safety.

Great vid, it really does show the advances in vehicle safety. It says a lot for wearing seatbelts. I couldn't see any sort of restraint in any of the crashes. The clip showed nearly 30 and in over half the driver is clearly ejected or partially ejected.

But its an interesting idea, just eject the passengers straight up in a high speed crash, just have to hope there are no overhead objects.

Life sure was cheap for those early race drivers.. Amazing how those open top cars just ejected the driver.. We have come along way, although that technique is still used by Motocycles, which haven't progressed at all....

Here is the best head on crash ever between a reinforced Chevy Nova 'Stunt Car' and a Honda(?).. Don't ever drive with your leg out the window.
