Yes a bit comfier & forgiving in the chop, particularly in big swell when stiff fin can kick & ankles will get a bit of a hammering after a while. Little bit more flex can also prevent spinout.

Durability- not really any difference. G10 used now is generally not so good & is quite soft but will not chip as easy as a select. Any scratches you get in a black select are easy fixed, bit of filler & some cheap paint and it's back to normal. G10 it hard to fix scratches that way & have it look good- most just sand them back. G10 dont suffer box/fin seperation issues but will eventually just shear off at the base.

Tuttle has parallel sides so even .1 of a mil oversize and it will need sanding, PB is tapered so .1 oversize and it would sit up probably .025 of a mil which is why PB's generally need little or no re-working to fit.

Thanks for that explanation. Gentle sanding it is then. It goes in at present, but it's a virginal fit.

I value these opinions cos I'm trying to decide what fin to get for freeriding big sails and boards in the rough waters at the top end of Moreton Bay. If anyone has an opinion I'm all ears.

Well, I'm righteously happy with the Maui Ultra Slalom Race 36 that I got to use with a 105L slalom board, running a 6.6 fully powered in chop. Very fast, nice feel, no spin out at all. I think the same fin, in maybe a bigger size would work, depending on how big your rig is. They also do the "spin-out proof" fin, which might work very well also, given the rough water you are using it in. I was blasting across the reef flat at GI, which is fairly calm, but it gets rough as you get out a bit, with no issues.
I dealt directly with the company, and had prompt postage. Mine was a refin prototype, so I got a cheap price too.
