I can't see the oil coming out of the odd seaplane being significant compared to what comes down stormwater drains off Canberra's roads. Not to mention the tefgel all those foilers must lose to the lake.

It sounds like you are trying to justify something by comparing it to something worse. That does not negate the original argument. The water quality in LBG has always been questionable but that is a separate issue.

Why should the sailors have to lose part of their amenity just because some business wants to make more money?

Not trying to justify seaplanes. Of course it will be better for sailors if they're not there. Just pointing out that water pollution is not going to stand up as being significant when you mount your case. Noise pollution yes.

The water was badly polluted back in 1982 and there were no seaplanes or powerboats to blame then. My guess is that the water is just as bad today, especially because more people live in the Canberra area today than back then.

Harley Davison motorbikes make much more noise than a lot of turbine powered aircraft so the noise pollution argument won't be consistent either. I still think that a helicopter is a better option than a seaplane for the scenic flights. They are much more versatile.
