grit teeth, pour in aquaear, douse toothbrush in aquaear...give wound a scrub, kill those pesky little vermin f***ers


the pain is a bad sting;;; but NOTHING compared to the agonising hell of a coral infection --- (should it get that far)

no pics 4 me but doc says if infection gets in bone...your Fxxxxxd...bad cases could be a lifetime of antibiotics, amputation........

clean out those little niks a.s.a.p, i left it a week and paid the price

Is it true, or an urban myth, that Superglue was invented during the Vietnam war to glue wounds closed in the field? Sounds like Dan's idea is perfect - reapplying before going out as necessary. Hmmm, should keep some in the car.

Though on second thought it may not be a good idea with those folks prowling in the red commodore - they would probably find it and superglue all the locks and transmission. [}:)] Hey a better idea - we should all carry it and if anyone catches those low-lifes then superglue their hands to their faces, mouths/lips shut, and maybe a few other orifices - and then let them loose at woodies for the kiter and WS crew to have some fun with.

I had a gash on my foot that the doctor couldnt stitch so he used "medical" superglue. Same as ordinary superglue but more sterile. And BETADINE.(antiseptic)is good sh1t.

Surgical Adhesive = SuperGlue

I even got that passed throught an animal ethics commitee

I've been told by a few old sea dogs that Paw paw skin flesh side to the wound will disolve any coral etc and clear it up with in few days.. I've never had to try it.. works well for sea urchins too apparently. I think pineapple skin does the same? Must be super fresh, something to do with the enzymes,, good luck

Pawpaw's good for blue bottle stings too. (and I didn't hear that from a dog)

From years of experience on reefs and access to ER Docs.
Hydrogen Peroxide on the wound to clean out anything that reacts with O2 = germs, dried blood, Coral, bacteria etc.
Clean all the crap out apply again, every time you see it foam bad stuff is in the wound.
When you have it clean, get the Betadine spray apply it and then keep it dry for as long as you can.
Repeat twice a day, and if symptoms persist -> Dr or ER.
In particular look for any redness in under the skin tracking away form the wound = poison into your system.

This works well after an urchin invasion into the foot from first hand experience.

Lao put me onto this topic, because of the super glue info, for my burst blisters.

Being a cautious old fart, I did some research first, found that the difference between super glue and surgical glue is the type of alcohol in it, the stuff in super glue is more harmful to the skin.

So I went to the chemist to see if they sold the real thing, but came away with a different product altogether. Well 2 products actually, the first is a very firm jelly like stuff with an adhesive one side.
Provides the correct environment for the wound to heal, the second is a flexible waterproof covering that goes over the top. The whole thing stays on for about a week, to be replaced if necessary.

The 1st stuff is called "Cuttinova" the 2nd stuff is "Fixomull"
