I think you misunderstand the "teams" event boys. What happens is you compete as teams, eg, south coast nth coast, newcastle, syd nth side, syd south side ectect. So you put together your areas team and compete as a team. It is a good fun event, you also get bonus points for women, juniors, masters ect. So it also encourages newcomers to come down and join in. Basically it is all about having a good time and promoting the sport to newcomers to competitions. Which I think can only be a positive thing.
Ps you also get a killer seafod dinner at the end of season presso

It depends if you and your soggy sayo friend boris is coming

Cost is $50 if you havent attended any NSWWA events this season and $30 if you have attended one previously or FREE if your a season member. You can also stay at the house were hiring to hold the dinner at for a small amount, the food will also be f@#king awesome!

Skeleton can you fill us in on the comp format?

Back to the original topic - also try out Swansea channel in a NE with a runout tide.

Launch from the south side of the channel.

Rig 0.5m less than usual because you will be sailing downwind constantly due to the runout tide.

last year the format was something along the lines of;
each team has 4 Opens, 1 junior, 1 master, 1 woman for example. 2 Scoring waves for each competitor (called by the sailor raising hand). Once the sailor has called his 2 scoring waves he must leave the water and tag his/her next team mate, who then does the same. The duration is around 1.5-2hrs depending on team sizes. A more refined outline will be put up on the website, but that should give you an idea. Any questions?

So what happens if there are more opens from one team than another? Do they just form a cheer squad and provide massages on the beach?

basically the open division is generally where there may be increased numbers, so the open contingent in the team can be increased. Or just add an additional team from the area, pretty easy.

ONE COMP = ONE STATE TITLES. THAT'LL DO. WHAT DO YOU THINK SKELETON MAN. WE COULD EVEN HOLD THE FIRST ONE AT GERROA. STUFF IT, WHY HAVE A SERIES. IT LOOKS LIKE DYING IN THE ARSE ANYWAY. THEN AFTER HOLDING THE FIRST ONE HAVE IT UP WOOLGOOLGA OR SOMETHING. THE STATE TITLES COULD RUN OVER A WHOLE WEEK, LIKE THE AUSSIE TITLES!!

Hi Brendan, good to hear your as proactive as ever. I dont know where youre obtaining your information from as to the strength of the association because last time I checked the numbers are greater than ever. Which is put down to the hard workthat alot of people have put in ( whether or not you happen to like those people I couldnt care less anymore).
Personally I love going to all the best spots on the east coast, having a few good sails, meeting new people that share a love for the sport that Ive being doing for all my life, and it also gives alot of people a really good reason to push their sailing up a level, so they develop and become better sailors. We also have introduced a micro grom division (under 13yrs) and had 6 little kids out the last comp, so its also feeding the next generation back into the sport and looking after the future. I cant see any of this being anything but extremely benefitial for our sport, Im sorry if you feel differently
I believe the association is doing a great job and Im proud as hell to be a part of it.

Sorry brendan, I must have misconstrued all the upper case text and exclamation marks as you taking another swipe at the association, my mistake, I'll try and desipher the motivation abit more carefully in future.
So now we're all calm and relaxed again, which was the suggestion and which was the smart arse comment?

Lanes on a good day don't you mean Peto.....

I think the old ship has made the last bit of the wave better, with all the sand it sucked into the beach.. didn't help the wind though.....

In "Gong speak" that means dead and flat.

Did you click on the "thumbs down" thing on my post? Thats just plain mean.

I hope the guy who originally started this thread received the information he was after. To sum it up, yes Nobbys is good in a NE.

The end (hopefully)

I sailed Nobbys once - luckily Jason was there from Board Crazy who literaly told me to follow him out through the keyhole... Because of that it was a little full on but had a great sail - although it did seem somewhat cross-on...

It was fortunate that I'd previously met Jason through the NSWWA...

Hey Crash, i remember that day, shame it wasn't very windy for you, yer the keyhole is the best way to get out through the rocks, even on low tide if your keen, so far it's claimed about 100 fins, somedays will see one on the bottom.. it got my fav MFC fin the other day

yer a SE swell is the go, like today, we just need some wind and its on..
