I agree. I bought a Subaru Outback 4-5 months ago and got the Subaru Racks to carry my gear as I didnt want wet stuff in the car (or abrasive non-slip scuffing the leather). Used the racks once, tying the sh1t on the roof when I have space in the back seemed silly and took so long. I chuck the sails back in the sail bags (which are thick and dont seem to leak on the 30min drive home), and throw a beach towel over the seat to protect it from the non slip.....then leave the car open in the garage for an hour or so when I get home to dry any stray drips. Plastic tub from Bunnings holds my harness, wetty etc
Plan to use the racks on longer trips when the family is in the car though, as my wife prob wouldnt like riding on the roof
