Bic windsurfing did a whole range at that time. Vivace, Veloce, etc. When pronounced they should sound, Velochey, Vivachay.

Bic Previous ranges is in the table at the bottom. Measurements should provide answer the OP is looking for.
Veloce is Italian for rapid and in the case of cars denoted for sporty driving. Many great Alfa Romeos were or are named as such eg GTV or Gran Turismo Veloce. (In English perhaps GTS.)
Vivace is Italian for a passage or movement (i.e. of music or in another context) marked to be performed in a lively and brisk manner. Another word for rapid or fast.

Hi Richard, your Italian is wonderful. The website is unreal. Thanks!

Now you've done it, I've gone all sentimental and almost teary! I really miss my 2/ GTV!
All the Bic boards were named after different styles of music or musical terms......ie, Rumba, Hard Rock, Saxo, Tempo, Be Bop etc and even the still current Techno. So I think it's safe to say that the Vivace and the Veloce names in this case refere to the speed or pace at which the music is played. Probably classical due to the Latin origin of the words but I'm only guessing and haven't done any homework. Never the less, Bic made some great boards and catered for a large sector of the windsurfing market.
They make great pens and cigarette lighter as,well but be careful with their razors.

Thank you, stonny.
Isn't that a Bic Veloce 120?
Looks a lot like the Vivace 290 to me but you could be right. Vivace 290 was 120 litre, I think only 58 wide, fast as hell, crummy to jibe, trim box fins, very durable skin. I had one and replaced it with a much more versatile Protech 285 CAT.
Today when I was on the water, just felt your saying," fast as hell", good saying, though I am a newbie.
Enjoy it!!!![]()
