Reminder first!
Bells beach at Pelican Park, my bag was stolen on the beach. Car key was in it.
Had to ask family to deliver spare key to me.
Wondering how do you guys handle your car key?
Water proof pocket with you in water?
Hiding somewhere on shore?
Car key holder stick under car body?

Thanks! Today heard key holder first time. Never seen one.

Stupid electronic keys. Much simpler in the old days when could wear it on a string around my neck under my wetsuit in winter, or in the pocket of my board shorts in summer. Now I have a big waterproof Aquapac bag, that starts leaking after a couple of uses, so I had to buy a second one and now use one inside another. Very bulky. Fits inside my wetsuit in winter OK, but way to big for board shorts pocket in summer. Probably time to look at a Keysafe, though I've heard stories of them getting broken into here in Florida.

I got a simple key cut that just opens the door, wear that round my neck under the wetsuit/rashy. leave the other hidden in the card in a Faraday cage.

Key in a small resealable food bag, then put that in a small aquapac (double safe). They a small one for keys and phones.

Put electronic key inside a small plastic vitamin jar with a piece of tire inner tube rubber cut in a circle and fit in the cap to seal. Put that inside a Yeti fanny pac with the magnetic closure, also store two screw drivers inside it in case I need to adjust/tighten something on the foil. Fanny pac has a belt that goes around my waist, works good with a seat harness, Dakine Reflex.

Could get a small soft style waterproof cell phone case, I like to use the key's unlock button, but getting a regular key cut is a good idea, just do not know if I can get one made in the same style without the electronic part, will check.

I've done all of the above at some time, but have now settled on placing the key in a key safe (with combination lock) locked onto the van door handle.

Check the fine print on your car insurance if you use a keysafe, some don't cover for theft if you use one. I hide mine in the bushes and often forget where I hid it.

Mine's a Hitchsafe, it fits in a 50mm receiver if you have one, I've had it for a few years and works great.

Ford vehicle with an electronic keypad on the door. I love my Expedition for this very reason. I just lock my key in the truck--no worries. Ford must have a patent on the technology that they don't license. Plus, the stretch version allows me to carry a lot of gear inside the truck--nothing on top.

Get a non-electric copy made $10 to $15. It wont start your car, just lock and unlock. leave good keys under seat or hide inside car.
Some kite string and attach to wettie zipper or around neck inside wettie. In summer, attach in boardies pocket. Simples.

That's OK, Mr. Love. I keep an eye on you once you're in your wettie and can tell you where it is .
