Gotta say first that the best part of winning any previous caption comp is seeing the collective creative genius over a photo where I can only think of one or two funny captions.

Anyway, on to the awards.

In third place, greenleader. These critters did have a very dodgy look about them.

In second place, brady. More topical as I have a friend who lives in Hendra just across the road from the racecourses from where the virus spread. And it reminds me of some recent news about how Phar Lap is thought to have died. After yet another forensic examination it was found that Phar Lap died as a result of blood poisoning contracted from having a rectum full of splinters. The prime suspect was his handler, Tommy Woodcock.

But the winner is: Waterloo.

Minor technicality that it's a flying fox, not a (blind as a) fruit bat. So over to you, Waterloo.
