Nose protector added to shopping list

Ummmm, yeah, forgot to mention......after dinging the nose on my JP, I decided to get a nose protector.....prob is, the damage had to be repaired first ($$$), and even after fitting the nose protector (fibreglass), I reckon the few catapults I had caused fractures in my mast, resulting in having to buy a new mast!

I'd look at the padded nose protector if you're getting one!

Just as I'm trying to find some money to buy all new gear I see this

Bic Tehno 2002 150L
www.seabreeze.com.au/Classifieds/Windsurfing/Boards/~n4xq/2002-Bic-Bic-Techno-Complete-Package-283-cm-150-litres.aspx?search=EjQ0DoWvNYhPy5CM%2FwV30A%3D%3D&t=0

Does this seem suitable ?

The board would suit you, but you'd need a smaller sail as well, so probably also a smaller mast. Nice shiny brand new gear is nice though, if you have the $s.

I'll make an enquiry , and the other sail I can get from Damien, for his time.

It looks like there is some tape around the front of the board.

Any ideas on frieght from QLD to Hobart ?
I've got a brother in Brissy who can maybe helpout

Yeah I just had a look at the larger photo, it's definately taped up. This could be potentially serious, I'd say there's either a crease in the board there (which will weaken the nose which might snap off) or it's been smashed by the mast during a catapult, which will also weaken the nose and there's the possibility water could have entered the board. It's always a gamble buying secondhand boards without actually seeing them. On the other hand most windsurfers are a trustworthy bunch, so might be worth contacting the seller.
Freight might cost a bit, so by the time you add that to the board it might be better economics to get a new board (and sails that suit you and our area specifically) through Damien.

Also worth taking into account is the sails - if they're the same age as the board, and have had a lot of use, the monofilm might be nearing its "best before" date.

Firstly

Thanks to everyone in helping make this first leap.

From all the feed back I've got so far, it appears that the only real way togo is to buy new or near new gear.
Also the sizes should be aroun 160L with 5-7-9 M sails

Found some money the other day that bith me and my partner had completly forgotten about
WHOO HOO

So now I've got a guy down the road going to let me borrow his 165L for a couple of days, and then I'm gonna buy something.

Maybe in the next couple og months I'll have some new gear .
And keep my Windsurfer 1 for Friday night races at sandybay.

Thanks all,

The 2nd hand options just haven't worked so far. I've placed an order for a Xantos 152 - and an Aerotech 6.2 Charge sail. And mast / boom/ mastbase. :)

Maybe have it in a month or so.

Now I've gotta wait :(

Thanks for all your advice.

go it all today as described.

Also got a Deveator seems to be a good Idea www.thedeviator.com/

All works, spent an hour discussing and rigging with Damien. Thanks I know you read these forums.

Then I took it out. Ok so winds were below 10 knots and the temp was below 10 C

But it works sweet ... and now I've gotta wait for some warm windy weekends.

Also trod on an oyster shell that made it through the booty , just a small one, but on the bottom of my foot.

Thanks Again Guys for all your help

I promise I will let this thread die a natural death now.

Thanks

Those bloody oysters - I go through booties every 2 years. Last pair I got spiked by a flattie first time I used them. Of course learning to gybe properly could alleviate this problem. But revenge - eat more oysters and flatties.
