Had a mid week solo session today, sail solo most days, really enjoy it when i get to sail with other people. After sail beers & BBQ are much better with company.

In all the years Ive sailed I've never had an after sail ' beer ( wine) & Bbq'.. Be nice to have a social group & do that..

Sue come over to the club at Marmong on Saturday the 17th July - we are having a regatta and plan a BBQ and some drinks after racing. Gold coin donation to the club should be good for a couple of snags and a drink

Same goes for other sailors from around the lake mac area. All are welcome

Cheers,

James

I never sail alone it's to spooky, and I start hearing the jaws music when I am out there all alone and come off my board.. I love crowds, a good crowded beach of windsurfers is awesome to me..

sailing alone is to spooky you might see a ghost shipsailing around

I like crowds too but I haven't seen any since Wello in the late eighties

Its ironic that I usually am the only one out but last sail when I maybe could have needed help there were others..I don't know that they could have done anything anyway but I must admit I am a bit nervous about going out alone now in case I break gear etc..I felt invincible before and thought "the lake isn't dangerous.." Getting old and ..what's the song.." help me if you can I'm..."

What went wrong sailing on the lake by yourself, equipment failure? i'm often out on narrabeen lake by myself, and thought not much to worry about.

Sailng out at the next closest spot, say longreef / fishermans, by myself spooks me. When I first moved here I used to go out there a lot, but then heard too many sharky stories, like that kid up at Avalon getting his leg mauled. I then typed in shark + long reef into youtube and wish I had't bothered....

It's a really nice spot too, gets a southernly when the lake is not blowing. Is this an irrational fear?

EDIT: at the end of this video, where some guys are all laughing and joking about not beeing eaten alive, is where i used to rig from.

A shark has been chasing me in my dreams for 25 years, although I haven't seen him for many years now. Maybe he died? The dream recurred so often that at one stage I started giving up, in my dream, and just letting him eat me. But he never did.

Now you all know.

There also used to be an electronic "beep beep" and rustling outside my window when I was a very stoned teenager, although I'm sure that had nothing to do with it.

I don't mind falling off out to sea, it's falling off during a lengthy lull that freaks me out.

Havent had the time to watch the vid yet.I will later.I've posted an account of my sail here
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=67086
It wasnt that scary by surf tales etc but it has ignited fears of getting old & past it & that I'm not invincible..Also having a great imagination is great as an artist but not so good if you ride horses or sailboard..Thats it I never worried about being out on my own.I suppose I wouldnt in summer as what can happen on the lake? ( other then jaws). It was the getting so cold so quickly even really rugged up that got me thinking.

- Don't forget Flipper, you're faster than lightening too.

…..and you're smarter than he!

(maybe you could be a stig too!)

NARR i could never catch ''the might kato'' bondo the guy is the stig and he will allways be the stig.. he can never shows us his face.. sailing with a full visor helmet like he does, at 40 knots on a carbon art speed needle, must feel like riding in a jet
