I'm practicing windfoil since 1,5 years and I like it and will continu it for sure.

My level is : practicing windfoil since 1,5 year, steady flight, now starting to succeed sometimes power jibe, although last year's summer I very easily made the first part of duck jibe, so I thought I would learn much faster to (duck)jibe, not thus. (In wave windsurfing I'm quite dynamic and playful using tiny waveboards 68 liter, 75 liter, 90 % of my jibes are duck jibes in the impact zone between the shore break). 75 kg.

For now my windfoiling is more going from A to B and back, I'm not looking for speed right now, but maybe this will come later, but not sure yet, speed seems a bit scary. I'm not looking for maneuvers but this will come later I think.

I keep on wave windsurfing and when the wind drops I start windfoiling mostly with the same windsurf sail that got too small.

For me it is important when I go out after a 45 minutes car drive, and the wind is less than expected or the wind drops, I want to get on the water as long a possible with larger sail and/or larger foil.

I'm planning to replace my current old WIzard 125 liter that is broken but repaired and it holds for now.

I'm doubting between a Wizard V3/V4 114 liter or 130 liter.

On a day with fading wind I did a good test with the Wizard 125 liter for the low wind limit with my biggest sails and foils.

So I started the test with my old Slingshot Wizard 125 liter with Infinity 76 cm in position B, sail mast foot about 7 cm from the back, and Severne Gator 6 m? 5, which is not a foil specific sail, but I read rather good for windfoiling as well, light, short boom 188 cm, although being a beginner I find it a good sail for windfoiling. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Then the wind dropped and I changed the foil to Infinity 99 cm in position C, sail mast as far back as possible. Is slower, but I don't mind. I takes much less time changing the foil since I have a second lower package, much faster than rigging a new sail. So I could go on in less wind. Even pumping with the feet through wind lulls, what I seem to like.Still I felt the foil to be a bit backfooted, I needed to put more weight on my back foot. Or maybe I come out of the front foodstrap a little bit and go a bit backwards, or put the front foodstrap more backwards (would prefer to leave it), by the way I removed the rear footstraps because I didn't use them, or I could drill a position D in the fuselage but then I know I could bend the fuselage.

Then when the wind even dropped more I rigged my Severne Gator 8 m?. I don't know if this is a good sail for windfoiling. Maybe it was my mistake buying it. It is very light 4,4 kg and I thought the width was only 197 cm, but the sail is much wider with a cut away since the bigger Severne Gator have a different lay out than the Severne Gator 6 m? 5. My fault, I didn't know this. If for windfoiling in very low wind I should get a better sail I would be prepared in time (not right now) to get a foil specific bigger sail 7 m? 5 to 8 m?, if possible without cambers like Duotone F-Pace 7 m? 4 or Naish Lift in about the same size. Just say so.

But the 8 m? on the Wizard 125 liter went quite good with the Infinity 99 cm. Uphauling and waterstarting the 8 m? is no problem at all. In windsurfing I can uphaul in the impactzone 5 m? 4 sail on a small 68 liter waveboard without a rope by pulling the mast sleeve, what is quite acrobatic. So I'm used to waterstart or uphaul sails in special circumstances.

Beside these sails I have normal light wave sails ranging from 3 m? to 5 m?4.

Could I use the Infinity 99 cm on the Slingshot Wizard V4 114 liter ? I found a lot of information in this forum and I searched a lot but never found the combination between a smaller board, like Wizard 114 liter with the huge Infinity 99 cm.

And could I go on using the Severne Gator 8 m? on the Slingshot Wizard V4 114 liter. I guess / hope the 6 m? 5 would work, but the 8 m? ? I've heard the ability to carry a bigger sail has more to do with the width of the board than the volume and the 114 liter is about 10 cm more narrow than the 130 liter. Maybe the 114 liter is too narrow. What do you think ?

I weigh over 90kg and use a slingshot Freestyle 115 instead of the Wizard 114. I had a problem at my size uphauling on the Wizard of that size, but that may have been a skill issue. With the FS as long as it's not ridiculously choppy and only 7.0 wind I can uphaul reliably. Any more wind speed and I can just waterstart because it's the easiest board to waterstart for me because it sinks.

I do use the freestyle with as large as a 7.0. Haven't bothered with my 8.0 foilglide, and likely will never bother that size on this setup. I think that it's over the tech specs of the board but it feels fine. I tend to migrate laterally out of the straps to be able to sheet harder upwind but the tail is definitely narrower than the Wizard.

Uphaul and riding, both with 7.0. You may notice if the sail looks too big for this board? I tried a 6.6 goya mark with the wizard 114 and it felt big to me, but that was a couple years ago and it may have just been my skill level.

Setup on the wizard 114 and freestyle 115 is very different. I like to have my feet close to the mast track so the freestyle setup is right for me. The wizard has the mast track way, way far forward and the footstrap inserts pretty far back so it would require surgery to get it setup the way I like it. Wizard with its wide, thick tail is easier to get on foil in light conditions than the freestyle. The freestyle has a rounded deck in the tail that lets you wrap your foot around it for carving swell -better feeling for me than the flat deck on the wizard. Can't say about large sail capability since I don't use anything larger than a 4.7

From slingshot direct they still have freestyles available. I think there are wizards available at big discounts from local distributors.

Currently for Freestyle straight from SS:
V2 Freestyle - 599USD
V3 Freestyle - 1499USD (they had a price lower than that WITH a complete foil set earlier this year that I jumped on, and they still didn't finish selling them all. Seems like that means the market is very very small for these)

There's a local wizard still listed for 899USD.

For freeride/wave foil at your size your biggest sail should be between 5-6 at most, my last finding... severne foil freak is amazing for that. High aspect, super short boom, you can start practicing your foil duck jibes.... I'm a 62 kg, 3.1 and 4.4 is all I need to cover 7-30kn.
If money is not an issue, foils made huge improvements from the days of infinity 76/99, those big /draggy foils do give you lift/stability, but the drag eats the power and make flight slow, slow

No it doesn't have to be Slingshot but I like the quality of the Wizard 125 liter.

Age of the board ? Can be second hand, I even prefer second hand.

That looks nice the 7 m? on the FS 115.

I would have thought the Wizard 114 would be easier to carry a bigger sail as well as easier for uphauling and water starting a bigger sail because the tail of the Wizard 114 is wider.

I read the wider the board is the more triangle / leverage there is on the back of the board compared to the width of the sail.

Don't know if this makes sense.

But your video look really good with very little wind and flat water.

Sounds like you have the skill to uphaul any of the options, 8m does seem a bit big to be uphauling on the 114 but also, I can't really think of a time where 8m would be better than a 6m on the infinity 99, unless you are 100+kg

If most of your foiling is after wave sailing on your wave sail, I would optimize for that sail size eg the freestyle 115 or the wizard 114

I get it out of the car as a last resort and then I start biking.

?? giving the board to a board fixer, and install twin tracks. I did this to my W125 because I also had phantasm mast gear. It's a joy to use now in 10-25 knots and rock solid. Sold my W130v2..we didn't get on??

If you're in Belgium why aren't you looking at one of these? There's a 'reasonably' good Swiss rider, Balz, and he seems to like them ..

I also looked at the Severne Predator but it only has a deep tuttle box and I want my next board to have a double track to fine tune the foil mast position so I won't be backfooted with the big Infinity 99 cm.

I know I can remove the deep tuttle and install a double track but I'm reluctant to customize a new board.

I want to go lower than 10 knots, to 9 to 8 knots.

I don't go out if there is a prevision lower than 10 knots, but once I'm there and the wind drops I want to get going and I get the Infinity 99 cm and the Severne Gators 6 m? 5 en 8 m? out of the trunk.

I installed twin tracks on my Predator. It cost me about AUD350 in materials and hire for the router and about 8 hrs of my time. Definitely worth the effort.

What you'll find is that when the wind gets less than 10kts, it's difficult to work to windward and you just end up mowing the lawn. 50% of wave riding is working to windward so you can ride the waves. Having some wind and an efficient foil really helps.

I originally actually got the Wizard 114 for that reason: winging and windfoil. And it fit inside my car.

For my weight I could slog it and rode the infinity 99 for winging and 76 for windfoil.

Ultimately I traded it for a different board before moving to the freestyle. The reason was it was very difficult for me to uphaul. There's almost no float in the nose and I had a hard time balancing and uphauling it as it takes a very different technique compared to my other boards. I had a day where I had to swim it back as I kept falling in swells trying to uphaul a 5.8. Someone lighter with the right technique may find it just fine.

One of the videos I took of me winging it before I stopped bothering winging. I never made it past the mediocre stage.

Video wingfoiling the Wizard 114 looks good.

I think waterstarting and uphauling the sail won't be a problem for me.

Many times for waterstarting I start by putting my both feet on the stabilizer and pushing the sail up, it's like a beachstart but in deep water.

Everybody tells me the Wizard 130 is better than the Wizard 125, takes of sooner, etc.

You are the first that says me not to like the Wizard 130 liter.

So for the Wizard 125 you installed a double track I assume because you have a Phantasm carbon mast with pedestal.
