Because 90 percent of them (yep, made that number up) are middle aged, semi-overweight, kook weekend warriors with no co-ordination or skill and no idea of surf etiquette and have no place in the line out on such a large, heavy and dangerous watercraft.
As always, the many spoiled it for the few.
I wouldn't say it's cool to hate SUP...just natural.
Rode shorties years ago, got older and went to long boards,have often thought about going to SUP's but found sailing better for me at this stage in life. Haven,t surfed for about 3 years. Haven,t had much to do with SUP,s but I think you,ll find a teabaggin' for somethin different in all sports. In sailing we put **** on mono's if you sail a multi and vice versa. Each to there own.
By the way , off topic enjoyed our first surfing experience on moreton bay in a 20 foot Boomerang, running with 20 kts and 4to 6 ft swell. Exhilerating to say the least
