Thanks, it was the second one I speared just on 30 kg from the same hole at Newcastle. Unfortunately - well fortunately for the fish - the spot has filled with sand.

Gotta admit too I am not a big trophy fish hunter.I spent years stalking those fish, so it was hard not to dispatch them. Still, now I feel a bit guilty for killing my old friends. I am just as happy to go back and get a few big plate sized bream and a couple of lobsters.

Yes, if you know where to look or spend a lot of time looking. Generally they are fairly scarce. At least it is not as bad as Port Stephens were you find heaps, but 95% are one centimeter undersize. You really have to be careful of The Fisheries up there and obviously most speros have a measure!
