Ha Ha Mac as I was writing this reply I was thinking how long it would take for someone to say that. I will post pictures we are going to C------i near Mullawarra for 3 days this weekend camping so I will take some photos then its a good spot to camp we have two dogs staffy and mini foxy the camp ground is dog friendly. Been surfin at Kingy, Cabba, Fingal lately the crowds are doin my head in up there at the moment. I have 3 months off Uni at the moment so am doing a lot of midweek surfing which is great.

I've had an old rav4 since about 2004, it's got 162Ks on it and it's in for a service getting a new catalytic converter on it. This will be the last major thing I do with it, anything else goes, it's gone.

I've loved cars all my life but I treat them like crap, I don't know why, I just hate spending time cleaning them or working on them, so I will never buy a new car, I'll just root it up within a year.

The rav is only good for a 9'6 board inside, I really want something to hold the 10'6 so I don't have to keep buggerizing about with tie downs when I just want to pop down for a quick and dirty at my local.

Some friends of ours came and visited recently in their old Tarago and I tried the 10'6 for size, it slipped in like a finger in a bum and it still had plenty of room to spare.

I'm thinking that if the rav finally dies, I may go looking for an old Tarago, take out the 3rd row and maybe even the 2nd row. Put in some hangers and boxes for wettys and stuff and just drive it into the ground.

I like Toyotas, they excel in mediocrity, for me that's a good thing.

Just on a serious note guys be wary, I think boofy said his toyota was getting a new cataletic convertor , this can be painful up to $7000 for some euro stuff if you run the right oil in the vehicle for the life of the vehicle this should not be a problem , bealert if buying something second hand as you don't know what has gone on prior ,purticulate filter is another word you should worry about which is on most diesels now ,They look like a whiskey still fitted to the exhaust pipe. These only last 140000K if it is a sealed unit it will cost moon beams check who ever is servicing the vehicle is using the right spec oil.
RUN THE RIGHT OIL OR IT WILL COST.

That was me that was getting the new converter and I'm sure you're correct about the right oil being needed.

I'm lucky that it will cost me $900 for a genuine one because I was expecting $2000, I would have been able to get out of it much cheaper if I could have fitted an after market extractor system and a universal converter but they simply did not make extractors for my model, anywhere in the world.

When you think about it, 100,000 miles isn't too bad.

I recall when converters first started to be fitted to cars by law, the designers worked out that the hotter the converter, the more efficient they were at doing their job. Hence, they are almost always inside the exhaust manifold. That meant that when they finally died, you usually had to relace everything rather than just something that looked a bit like a muffler.

Good for the parts makers, not so good for us.

I have just sold my trusty VW transporter and flew from Murwillumbah to Newcastle last weekend to pick up a 3 litre turbo diesel 06 mod Navara with an extended ally tray I am in the process of working out what sort of lockable cage for the back to stash all my gear but there are so many configurations its hard to decide.
We had the option to buy a friends company ford Ranger but it was a bit out of our price range they get a good write up in all the reviews. Navara awesome on fuel
