I look on eBay and have bought a board or two off of eBay and never had a problem. I only search used boards as it cuts out a majority of the fluff on the page. As Gumtree in SA rarely has anything that is any good I use eBay. Plus its a good time water.

Me thinks there could be a move away from Ebay due to their current fees, I've bought/sold many through both Gumtree and Ebay , although owned by Ebay Gumtree have no fees.

Gumtree NSW has offered a few quality sticks over the past year and once you have the freight sorted out..all good...only trouble is the payment on freighted items..you take your chance..so far so good for moi !

Thanks Jim,

I totally agree, the fee's on eBay are extreme IMO compared to 'the ol' days'.

I didn't realise Gumtree was owned by eBay - thanks for that info too.

Re starting price on Ebay..I have a mate who sells guitars on that site with a high start up price..always open to offers in his spiel..and more often than not gets a close offer and sells offline..no commish..might be the way some high reserve board prices are hoping to go..IMO.

EBay has been a buyers paradise of late...I have lost badly on a couple of items...yet I have scored some crackers. I agree with surfbrokers mate,as I ha've done heaps of deals during auction time

The ones that don't sell are where the bargains are.
Make an offer after the auction, no fees and you should get it for a good price as the buyer has just seen their item not sell.

I was telling Asea to do it all the time....sp your on the money as well... I offered a bloke a really low amount after his item hit the third auction. He replied with a abusive reply...two more auctions later his reply had a different tone

On boards,I have seen some really nice ones go cheap...I thought when it got to summer everything would sell well. Then I saw a near perfect diverse sell for $210

I used to use www.bidsniper.com for my purchases...worked a treat when the auction ended overnight or when I was at work.
