The justification is that it pleases me to list the boards at such a price... that's a straight answer, not a joke.

You must put a fair premium on your time and have a very high opinon of your own self worth

I personally don't feel that any surfboard is worth much even if they have a intrinsic historical value

Surfing is one of the great joys in my life and the stoke I get from seeing someone surf well on one of my boards is enough for me (provided the materials are covered and there is enough left over for some beers)

Look I wouldn't want to be in Camel's shoes anyway because you say you want to fine tune the boards but and its a big...but.. the problem lies in the fact that when surfers have offered constructive criticism of your boards in the past (that I have read) its been turned around as a deficiency of the rider.
How can the designs progress if you're unwilling to take on board (pardon the pun) the feedback of surfers?
This has been a fundamental of the shaper/surfer relationship in furthering design in the modern age rather than simply shaper/shaper.
Finally, at $27,500 USD per board does it really matter what these surfers say about them?
Who'd be ponying up those sort of $'s anyway?
If they like them they could just get them scanned and have someone else make them for sub $1000 USD.
Or any accomplished shaper could eyeball them and shape one very close to what you're doing as well since your fibreglass boards are still in their early stages.

I said no to the $5.

No doubt Camel's shaper can make one himself after looking at my facebook page, not so much freight then hey... and they can refine it to their heart's content and say that it's based on 40's kookbox toothpicks, that way they don't have to mention me at all.

The fact that no one's doing that probably means that the design isn't really any good at all. ... respected shapers know what's good by now after all... so why waste good foam and resin on a kookbox knockoff which would be a disaster in big surf?

Plus as you say I didn't cut the board in half to make it go better as Rarick recommended, or turn it into a mal as his other suggestions would have entailed... my bad when everyone knows it's about doing what other people say.

At least I put a huge price on them so that everyone has an excuse not to buy, it makes it easy for them... so I'm not all bad.

Oh well half my life wasted... why weren't you there then to help prevent me from heading down the wrong path Pete? Still, better late than never so you have my gratitude.

If anyone wants to try the concept for **s and giggles after I'm done and gone then it's easy as.

I wonder what the most environmentally sound method for disposing of a big quiver of useless boards is? I'd like your advice on that one.

I'm going to cancel my current orders for boards too, best to get a real job and stop ripping people off, then quit surfing so that others can express themselves artistically on waves without suffering my ugliness and wave hogging in the surf.

Sorry that I didn't keep you in the loop on that one, I'm pretty busy recovering from a three month long illness, so I slipped up.

Last of all I've never liked surfers much, with one or two exceptions. That's why I live in an inland town where there aren't any, and have a shop which is nearly always shut.

When I do get a customer it's always a f&cking drag talking to them, seriously. I'd rather discuss the meaning of life with my pit bull... being a dog she loves me anyway, not knowing or caring that i'm no good.

That's a shame. I was sincere in my suggestion to have you send him one to ride in this upcoming swell.
I thought it would be an opportunity to get some video and see the board in action in the kind of waves it was intended for and then people could see for themselves whether they would like to contribute to your campaign based on what they see. Could have been a huge boost.
