Ok I am not going to name names here but I brought a new wettie last winter and it was great...but its now falling apart and only 13 mths old. I wash it in fresh water after almost every use but the lining has just completely gone this w/e. Not happy - it nows takes me about 10 mins to thread my legs through the lining to get it on. Not fun when the wettie is still wet and a cold offshore is blowing. I contacted the store today and he said that as its beyond 12mths there is nothing he can do. I am not happy. The last one last 4 yrs - from a different manufacturer though it must be said.

So has anyone else had a similar issue and how have they got on? I am thinking I will contact the manufacturer direct tom and hope for the best. Otherwise I shall have to buy myself one online from the UK. Heaps cheaper

Never had an issue with Bong or Quik wetsuites,I've had a Quik jacket for 4 years and I only just replaced it,have a look at Excel mate.

Ted good luck with the call mate but after a year just about everyone wipes their hands.

I've never had a problem with my Rip Curl suits...my last one went for about 4 years until I had to do a rock scramble to get out of the **** on a big day and tore the ass out of it...I've got an E-Bomb chest zip now and its the nuts and seems to be going well into its second season....I have also heard good things about patagonia suits...

Do those e-bombs have a lining in it? Thats the problem with mine - its all come away from the wettie and is got holes through it - so your foot catches on it as you slide it through.

Send it back to the manufacturer Ted.
If it was RipCurl, they are very good with fixing their stuff, even out of warranty.

Have been offered suits for free from other brands and always happily paid for Rip Curl. My new E bomb pro plus with the chest zip is ridiculous. My only problem is that being a sealed 3/2 its too much rubber for here. So comfortable though I have been warring it anyway.

Looking at replacing my 7 year old Triple X 2mm unsealed and have been eyeing off a E Bomb 3/2 however I am thinking I would get too hot.

I've got an xcel sealed 3x2 and I roast in WA, by the sounds of it our winter water and air temps are on par with the Goldy. I really need to get a 2x2 or even 2x1
(if you can?) for north of Perth.

My 3/2 oneil is good, i wouldnt say I get too hot.

Put a shopping bag over your foot before sliding leg into wettie.Makes it so much easier to get it on.

Tried that once, take the shopping out first, heaps easier then

Ripcurl 3/2 DP for me. I will say though the water comes in through the back zip for the first time its fresh, but other than that great temp. Price of wetsuits though is just crazy, i could never pay full retail when they are asking $400 plus

I think i got mine for $175

i buy my steamers from america, picked up my current wetty an ebomb pro for $210 and that was with shipping, if i get 2 or 3 seasons out of it i'll be resonably happy,
or
you can go to BCF and pick up one of those cheap adrenalin wetsuits, there cheap but probably indestructable

I bought my Ripcrul Dawn Patrol 3/2 for $175 of the shelf from local surf store. Was last years style but who cares. I just rang around asking for what was on specials racks

My old 2x2 long sleeved springie aint cutting it anymore and gonna get a steamer...Surf on the sunshine and Gold Coast here is sunny QLD.

Looking at a long sleeved steamer 2x2 or 3x2. What do others in the goldie and sunnie coast tend to find comfortable temperature wise.....

And I know it depends on how much you feel the cold (ie how soft you are, me I am very soft) and the type of wettie will make a difference....etc

But just to get a general idea...what thickness steamer are ppl out there wearing??

Except I have not heard anything about Patagonia, but it is too warm up here for them anyway

Nineplus make very warm smooth skin wetsuits. On Par with E-Bomb in warmth. Their new 2012 range has 2/1 steamers that are as warm as a rip curl 3/2 and even some 4/3.
