Dont buy over priced brands

mate you know what i think about quality versus product. all i know is, out of all the gear ive owned over the years is that board i got of you is superb. that is the reason im swayed towards the mctavish brand, quality product. im bored, think its time for a drink. oh im trading the razar in for my next board

Sorry mac, been away. Mate that's just a beautiful board, well worth the wait, now I'll really have to give some serious thought to a new redline, can't just have a plain Jane white volane board next to that beauty......

Looking forward to seeing her in the flesh.

Mate I'm proud to be the source of your inspiration for that new board, I was thinking about possibly dropping 2" off the length, mmmmmm might need to give that some thought.

oh my god i just grew a 3rd nut

dimensions?

Ok my Redines so far,first 906 x 23 x 3 second the same third (now asea's )
906 x 23 1/8 x 3 1/8,forth ( new one ) 908 x 23 1/4 x 3 1/4.

My last board, asea's new board and let me tell you its 100% both in performance and condition and had some great sessions on it until that fatal day in knee high with VANDERS on his 10 x 24 x 3 1/2,I took it for a spin and wholly cow it was a wake up call.this is what I need more volume.

mac so why did you not go the 10ft?

did the extra 1/8 inch give that extra float you expected?

Mate its still stuck in dry dock atm,Vanders 10 foot has a lot of volume so I wanted one in between my old board and his,so I added an extra 2 inch to the length and 1/8 to both the thickness and width, without losing performance,we will have to wait and see but I'm reckon it'll be sweet

Well chrispy, the wave was 2ft right hand reef break that was been surfed by some cheeky little groms who kept snaking me! [}:)]
The wind was a light sideshore so the wave had a few bumps on it but it was great fun.
Very easy to paddle. I had surfed my normal shortboard in the morning, on my first wave I tried to bottom turn it like an SB and nearly twisted my knee once I got used to it tho and got my feet right for small surf it was great, really fast and turned really well. Big cutbacks are its thing I think

This is the fin set up but I moved the centre fin back and inch

I tried to surf it from the tail and it didnt like it so shifted my weight forward and back foot infront of the fins and it just glided, really really nice

I know I don't know sh#t about that brand of board you are riding BUT I actually found that my old 6.0 Mcegg surfed way way better as a single fin - from memory I had a 7.5 dolphin in it.

Yea mine is a 8.5 dolphin with the GX-Q sides, with the 8.5 its looks funny as a single, it looks as tho I will need a bigger fin to run it as a single.

When I got the board it came with a similar size Mct branded fin (sticker) so I just matched the new one to the old one, thats why I got the 8.5

I have very little experince with 2 + 1 set ups so advice is welcome

An 8.5 is massive on that board ! More than enough fin to run as a single for sure. As a thruster it will really rock with, say a 6.5 centre and maybe M5 sides or similar. As a single just wack the fin close to centre and see how she goes - reckon you will find it wayyyyyyy faster down the line and drawing much smoother drawn out turns on the face.

Jeepers! Its bloody fast as it is!! I was thinking of getting one of those FCS box converter thingos and set it up as a proper thruster to see how that would go.
No probs in turning it tho, but you do have to have your feet forward, carves very nice in big cutbacks.
Its so different than any other board I have ever owned, heaps of fun. Next time Im over a recon a Greenmount session is required with this board
