FYI : the new model of the 7S SuperFish has a far less dramatic swallow tail... (and yes I damaged both 'tails' off my old one - had to fix them two or three times each).

Step deck is the same, but seems a little less 'obvious'. The bottom concaves are a lot deeper - big single into a double...

I have not damaged the swallow tail on mine yet, I must not be surfing hard enough enough. I am curious how this damage happens, are we talking bigger waves, I am the king of falling off little waves and no damage so far.

Re stepdeck, I think the flotation benefits outweigh the "unusual feel"

For me the worst part about the 8' is that it is just that little bit too wide to fit under my arm comfortably. The 7'3" is an inch narrower and would solve that problem.

The super fish used to pressure real easy ,an example is a friend of mine used to walk out in the water with the board upside down to clear the rocks , puting the tips of his fingers on the bottom of the board this pressure ding it badly . he used to just get a new one every six months

Kadi' I think most of the damage is coursed out of the water by poor handling and not in the water,the more points the more chance of chipping imo.

Yep - this is what I was referreing to in my previous comment.

Although - as for poor handling Mac its just one of those things - swallow tails seem to just love to find the rough points in the board rack, the back of the car etc Its like how sometimes bollards move in car parks and hit the good ladies vehicle while it was stationary - its just one of those weird phenomenons that I doubt I will ever understand

Yeah - just moving it about and knocking the tail over about 3-4yrs... and mine was Poly - yours is Epoxy so won't be so prone to damage.

Just a comment on the general dinging on the 7S - mine was no worse than any other board I have had over my 30 yrs surfing - including local customs. After nearly 4 years as my main board this thing looks better than some of my other 'retired' boards.

The GSI McT SLX is by FAR the worse dinging board I have ever owned. You just look at it sideways and it has a pressure ding.

He could have easily surfed this fish if he would have stopped looking around to check who was watching
