IMO.. Same should be done for the flat-water/down-winder distance event .. A short course 3 klm paddle just doesn't seem right to me.

I'm not convinced that Bells to Torquay can provide ideal conditions to stage a downwind race - the wind direction and current just doesn't seem conducive. Maybe a no-winder perhaps.
The course that Max and Lummers decided on in Cosy Corner was terrific. Very challenging with 3 different sets of challenges depending on which leg of the triangular course you were on. And it provided a perfect vantage for spectators over the whole course as Cam and Dave really put on a show. That wouldn't have been the case on a point-to-point race - the spectators wouldn't have seen it and there wouldn't have been the constant lead changes each lap. The only thing is it could have gone a bit longer, maybe a couple more laps, although the guys further back in the field would kill me for suggesting that.
The BOP style of race is a totally proven format you can run it in almost any reasonable wind conditions and its adaptable if things change. Props to the guys for running it that way!
You cant beat action at the buoys and the proximity to shore engages the audience and usually a spectacular finish! Thought it was great, had it been from Bells to Cosy it would have lost its visual impact.
Might be wrong but it was the Victorian SUP Surfing Titles. The races were added to be inclusive of all aspects of the sport and as a bit of fun!
There was no racing at last years Aussies might be different this year???????
Who knows!
