i was reasonable fit, not really overweight. but i drank a real lot of diet coke9 which according to some sources does the exact opposite) and ate a lot of fast food. i had tests done as a check up and while everything was good except my cholesterol levels.
so i only drank water from then on, radically changed my diet. i eat 'heaps' but the right food at the right time.
kept paddle training but started running. run every third day. it wasn't easy, hadn't run for a very long time. had calf troubles etc, but got past it. as i got lighter ,it got easier to run.
so the weight just kept coming off. gone from a guess 83 to 84 kgs to somewhere between 70 to 71 kgs.
i'm actually really enjoying my food too
cheers

Top effort once again. Thanks for the insight it's always interesting knowing how others drop weight .. Yepp you are what you eat! That's one weakness I have is soft drink. Hardly drink alcohol but soft drink almost daily.. People say running is no good but I'm a big believer in running I lost 12kg 4 years ago training for my 1st marathon. Long runs and short interval runs is all I did for 3 months not a single other bit of exercise and clean eating amazing how the weight dropped. Committed to getting myself back to that level of fitness now hoping now I found paddling that will help with the core and better breathing etc.
teatrea said.. Yeah soft drink is the worse , choc full of sugar. I have gone from over 90kg to 84kg I rekon a lot due to cutting out soft drinks and eating healthy.Still on the cancer sticks though would love to kick that habit.Ive been gettting back into running , but only run on grass , much better for the old beat up body

Thats what i love about sup , low impact

just for the record, i've lost about 13 kg's since the ck to ck race. very comfortable dw ing and paddling 12'6s now.
so yeah, the 12'6 s debate imo are for the lighter paddlers
A bit off the Tomy topic, but gotta agree with that.
Today was the first time I really I enjoyed a downwinder on a 12'6" so I'm convinced!
15kg has also made a much bigger difference to paddling a 12'6" than it has to paddling a 14'.
(PS. looks like I'll be racing you to crack the 70kg mark

)
was under after running last night

. nah, i don't think i need to lose any more -seem to be maintaining. i like the off the mark speed of a 12'6 and they are more adaptable to changing conditions. i'm still learning on this board. tightening up the technique. the board is very stable for it's width and flies- feels like someone gets behind and lifts the board and gives it a shove-but got to lose those occasional paddle checks
Looks like we are all on a mission I've lost 11kg's in 8 weeks (because I drank to many Coronas in Mexico) I've always ate healthy and I eat like a Mallee Bull I just graze all day on fruit, vegies and fish or steak and train running, swimming, aerobics and so on. I'm never one for drinking soft drink I'll drink maybe 4 can of Coke a year, My biggest problem is I can drink 15 schooners in a sitting with ease;
