Hope you get a good one...and I'm v jealous of Jonathon, lucky bugger.

I'll be behind the desk unfortunately. Didn't get wet on the weekend, so I'm getting a bit jumpy. It's looking ok for few waves over the weekend, let's hope the forecast holds:
"New SW groundswell around 5-6ft+ across open beaches early, smaller later. Light N/NE winds, tending NE during the a'noon."

You'll want a support boat for that one........

To those who couldn't make it on Sunday.. You missed a good one..

Cam and I had our 17's and the wind gusts were so strong at the start we were worried that our boards would flip so we had to put them upside down facing the wind on the beach and even then they were jumping.

The sky was blue and the water was clear.. (but still pretty cold).. I used my Methane and Cam used his Pipes.. I couldn't keep up with Cam.

You know it's going to be a good one when you hear the wind howling through the yacht masts and you even get big chop and little runners as you paddle past the boats that are only 200 mtrs off shore.. We got 20-30 knots with the odd higher gusts and the wind direction was perfect.. It was like a roller coaster ride going through the gates of hell at the end.. I'll have to get some vid of that one day..

Granted we don't have anything like the big trade winds or the ocean currents of some other regular downwind courses, but I wonder if there is anything to compare with the ominous sounds of the yacht masts at the start or the Gates of Hell at the end, that marks our StKilda to Sandringham course, especially when conditions are ideal.
