From what i understand the wave garden in the video below takes a long time before they can return the soliton back to the other end. It also kind of makes a tidal wave meaning if the wave gets bigger the process is even longer.

The webber and Kelly models are based off a cut in half boat hull type soliton that runs constantly around the pool requiring far less energy to run and endless waves. The radial compression of the waves also makes them more dynamic.

Like flounder above I have been hearing about these in the media and from the creator for a long time. It seems like now though they have finally worked out the bugs and are ready to build the first real life one. Probably in Dubai I'd think.

Very intersting..

Vewy, wewy interwesting.. Can't wait to see these things working.

For years I dreamed about something like this.. My idea was to have a waterproof train with a big shovel like a snow plow on the front with asym shaped sided shovel and run the train under water from one side of a lake to the other and have a rolling easy learning wave on one side and a steep curling wave on the other side.. When it comes out of one side of the lake it gets turned/spun around (like they can do) and then run it the other way.. I reckon it could work.

An interesting development on this one as per Swellnet article.

http://www.swellnet.com.au/news/2651-kelly-slater-almost-sunk-in-wave-pool-wrangle

Notely the below paragraph excerpted from this article.

Since applying for a patent in 2008 Kelly Slater and his business partner, Adam Fincham, have twice been rejected because their wave pool infringes upon Greg Webber's design. In both of their attempts - first in 2008 then again this year - the response from examiners at the US Patent Office has been identical: the design submitted by the Kelly Slater Wave Company is "unpatentable over Webber." It is too similar to Greg Webber's design for a patent to be granted.
