for all you shortboard sup addicts, drop a few inches to 7....

That vid is a good example of going shorter for the sake of going shorter. Board may work great in different conditions with a lighter rider, but on that day, and that guy on it, something doesn't look right.

I don't know if the board was crap or not, but there's something wrong in that video.

The guy can obviously surf because he was able to stand up on that thing and paddle it.

His weight is too far back and he has the nose of the board way up in the air. All he had to do was trim the board out and it would have looked ok. People surf planks of wood and make them look fine.

I've seen guys on 10-11' SUP riding along with the nose in the same position.

Greeno, you hit the nail on the head. Wonder if it was the riders, the waves or the boards that was the problem?

those waves are very rideable and those guys are able enough. i reckon the guys in the snowy comp would have been drooling to surf them than what they had. the problems is the boards, you can see they are struggling and tripping around on them.its no the length either.look at were they have to stand just to keep the trim and plane. it just the boards imo.
cheers

I was thinking it would make a great first board for someone around 110kg, be great for choppy conditions.

I think it would also make a great board for someone who is full of their own self importance?

Seriously, I really envy you guys who make your own boards. I can't even make lasagna, years ago I tried, I followed the directions and added tomato sauce - as in ketchup.

Cam Gaylies,
7'6" is a kiddies board. What are you thinking? Order a meat lovers party pizza and ask the driver to stop a pick up some booze for you. Do that every friday night for a good six weeks then you will need to measure up at least a 8'6" to float your new 100kg weight. I feel sorry for you, why can't everybody be a bit fat like me?[}:)]

Its the boards a super wide tail means a super loose board they don't have any drive and are struggling to get any projection to get the board up and planning....on a super hollow wave they may be ok cause they would be able to sit right in the pocket...they are a bit like those bannana boards shane herring used to ride

Yeah they would be a pain in the ass really bur at least you could sit right in the pocket and look like you were going OK.....once your out on the flats your back to looking like a dickhead...either way those boards look like they are shaped by someone who has zero to no idea
