Are you sure the surfing is Monday? I'm in the first heat so don't want to drive from Sunny Coast early Sunday if it's not on until Monday. I tried to ph the hot line but got an old recording.

100% it's Monday ring Surfing Qld head office ph.55201165 they will confirm.

I don't get it it's a queensland event. Why can nsw sups enter? I think it's unfare for the state even if the nsw sups don't qualify. Please fill me in because I think it's bull****.

Not fair. In my opinion. That's what state title are all about.
Then Australian titles. That's fare

Spoke to QLD HQ about this today , and as Goatie said Qld'ers were allowed in the NSW comps , won't happen next year they are just building numbers for this year. The way I look at it is if whether you make it through or not you will have to tackle these guys in the Aussies anyway.

It will make it hard to count back if multiple out of towners make the final and with no repo charge heats this will make it super tough for the Qld'ers who get bumped in their heat to Qualify for the only 2 QLD spots for the Aussies.

Bring it on.... it will only boost the quality of the comp , next year will be a different story and the age will hopefully be lifted to 45

Not sure how many NSW guys are entered so this might not become an issue, but it would suck big time for a QLD surfer with potential to make the finals to get knocked out in the first round by couple of NSW surfers...

Nothing at all against the NSW surfers and I get that QLDers joined in the NSW event, but an interstate comp seems a pretty strange way to decide a state team (from both states).

As Rob said, would be hard to do a fair count back if final has couple of NSW guys in it. Do they go by wave scores or heat placings?

Funny that no one had an issue about it at the Roar comp in 2010 which was the selection comp for the Aussies. NSW guys got 4,5 and 6th in that one. Fark it's not the olympics and the sport is young and struggling with numbers anyway.

For me personally it's another comp against high quality guys (some of the world's best) and a chance to catch up with some good crew and meet a few of these guys on here. I'll probably get flicked early anyways.

Hey Mac still haven't put a face to a name yet, along with a few others who weren't at the roar comp.

Mate I fronted up to the 12 tower race expecting grief and all I got was love from the crew,LL let me know whats going on I have LB session with Chrispy @ 7 would like to watch the action under the hoodie

if there are 16 in each event open and over 40's, how many are doubling up in both? how many are not from QLD?, Goatman was saying there are 30 that rock up to a club meeting, why the lesser numbers turning out to the event, I think the same thing happened at Vic titles, re doubling up and low turnout.
Advertising not getting through, cost of entry, age classifications a barrier, I know at the age of 56 to compete in an over 40's unless its for fun is pointless, better to find an uncrowded break somewhere and get surfed out elsewhere and save the $110
