History and experience shows us that those who are most critical and speak out about Drug Cheats/users wind up been users.

I dont think I've ever heard you swear before... haha! But wash riding is not cheating!

i was referring to the lake "time trial" which is one persons effort against the clock, not a race between competitors as such. Especially bad as those that ride the aces can never return the favor (but always claim to be faster paddlers).

Remember folks loose lips sink ships Id be very carefull about accusing people of taking drugs , expecially on - line , and expecially on a little birdie told me. I thought about it though , because id really like to get to that can first and win 5 cartons of beer.

Totally agree with above except for the beer can. With Christmas coming that is all mine
Accusations and innuendo are as unhealthy in sport as actual use and often claim more innocent then guilty. Problem being the label often sticks to the innocent as well. This should be left to official bodies (ASADA) to do and only when proven do they make official statements and administer the consequence.

So lets get back on thread and get those entries in. I still have some concert tickets for those that wish to go after the race. $50 for those racing. email me at :
info@sunshinecoastsup.com
Ticket sales goes into prize pool.

It is helpful to us to have entries in early as it helps with the number of rashies, drinks, and logistics we need. Entries are pouring in and a lot have verbally committed. It helps with our communication with sponsors to have solid numbers in early. This help us build better events for you so get behind it and register early.

Last year was about 70. We wish to smash that if possible.

To assist us register ASAP.

The race will proceed regardless of conditions as it has a fail safe back up location so no need to hold off.

How many from far down south are coming?

Get ready to race!

Hi Crew, The 17th of Nov is fast approaching! We have a huge day of racing planed on the Saturday backed up by a SUP surf comp and expression session the next day.

The weekend is going to be insane!... Imagine Coolum main beach packed with festival goers and with SUP racing right in the middle of it!....Nuts!.... Followed by the sickest band line up on the same night!.... Then backed up with a SUP surf comp / expression session the next day!

There is some serious cash and world wide recognition up for grabs for the fastest paddlers!

Who will beat the internationally recognized and reigning champ "Kelly Margetts"
Will it be....Beau Obrian... Lincoln dews... Paul Jackson... Marcel De Paula... Paul Jones.. or even the Keck.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge or should I say "boards" since these guys last met at Coolum so lets see what they got!!

For all us mire mortals don't be put off by these guys! This race accommodates for all skill levels. It is all about participation and experiencing the rush of paddling in a proper governed race environment.

Surfing Queensland along side with the Sunshine Coast SUP Club and the crew at Ocean Addicts are going to make sure that this race and surf comp are facilitated to the highest level.

The master Woogie is race director and will ensure that the course is set to a standard that is excepted around the world.

Dog Man from Surf Tech and PT are on the mics broadcasting this event to the masses!!

There will be some serious media exposure plus hoards of people packing the beach over these couple of days. So If you are connected to the industry or just want to experience a major SUP event then don't miss this weekend!

Paddle Hard!!!

This will be followed by Heat Two / Final. Two Laps each.

Following he Rae above we will have Heat One of the Men's Open. Two Laps.

Top two thirds of Heat One will advance to Heat Two. Plus top three men from those with more life experience.

Heat Two is Two laps with the top half advancing to the final.

Final is Two Laps.

Each lap will be 1km to 1.5km in length.

Progressive times will depend on logistics on the day. We ae aiming at a ten minute break between races.

Following this we will have a fun race on the new Nash inflatables. Prize to be announced soon.

Finally...

Get reasonably dolled up, ditch the kids with relatives and head to the Golden Days Concert.

Happy Days..

I have 10 Naish 12.6 inflatables for anyone that dose not have a 12.6 and would like to race in any of the divisions.

Please contact me at the shop to lock in one of these boards.

They are actually quite fast and are great to paddle. If you dont have a 12.6 board or are worried about hurting yourself or your own board then these are a great option.

To Register:

To enter you need click the link below to the Surfing Qld Website. Entry fee is $50 per event. Competitors who enter both components of the event (racing and surfing) will receive a $25 dollar discount after the conclusion of competition. Please enter both components via the Surfing Queensland website at $50 each. Surfing Queensland will then refund the $25 to each competitor.

http://www.surfingqueensland.com/events.php

Select the event you wish to enter and read the details from their site. You must choose the division you wish to race or surf in. For example you must choose either the Opens over over age divisions in the race or for the surf you must choose either the open or over 10 foot surf board class. These are distinctly different comps so read which one you want to do.

As a bonus: The top three places in the over age group men's race will get a wild card entry into heat 2 of the open men's race.

Long range forecast is for a cracker of a weekend. No rain in sight one week either side on the farmers )elders Weather) website.

This also means it will be a top night at the concert. Limited Tickets left available through the club so get in early. Once gone they are all gone and you will have to pay twice the cost at the gate if they have any left.
If interested email:

info@sunshinecoastsup.com

Here is some more info about Sunday

Surf Events on Sunday

Woogie has organised a cracker for the open class. This format is so that all surfers do not hold back and just go hard to show us what they can do. You can still win best wave by linking moves together but also can try for the point score system that is based on the most progressive moves. This way the surf doesn't have to always be concerned about linking up a few good turns for a good wave score. They go for it and might just try for one all out impressive move on a wave.
The Woogie has a complete system in place for this so it will be great to see what the surfers can do. All surfers in this class will have two 30 minute heats to show their potential.

The over 10 foot class will be judged on a traditional format with heats, reps, semis and finals.

Looking forward to the weekend and seeing as many SUPers there as possible.

Race format is going to be great. don't miss it.

Here is a more accurate run sheet for the day. The races are not separate heats. This format is an Eliminator. All race eat One and some are eliminated. Rest time between races will be approximately 10 minutes after first place crosses the line.

7:30am: Marshalling

8:00am: Start Racing

Womens Race.
Depending on numbers we will have either two heats and a final or one heat and a final.

If the numbers are below 20 then it will be a two race event for the women.
Heat One: Three laps and then a Final being at least approximately 8 paddlers over two laps.
Women who are eliminated in Heat One (or heat two if held) go into the mixed gender B Final after open men's final.

Prize Money for open women's if only 2 races will be $200 for heat one and $400 for the final. If enough register for a three race event then prize money will be the same as open men's.

Approximately 9am

Over 40's and 50's Mens and Womens Race

This is a straight race of a three lap course. We need the SQ officials to be able to work out men from women (easy) but also over 40's and over 50's. The first three men to finish go into heat two of the open men race as a bonus. All other paddlers race the B final after open men final.

Approximately 10am

Open Mens Heats and Final

Heat One: Two Laps ($200)

Heat Two: Two Laps ($300)

Final: Two Laps ($400)

Approximately 11:30am

Open B Final

12pm

Presentation and Paddlers draw. You must be present to win the Paddlers Draw.

Hi Guy's,

Everyone coming through the shop and on the beach are talking up the race!

There seems to be a lot of new guy's and girls that have recently gotten into the race scene that are super keen to take on and see were they position against some of the more elite paddlers in the sport.

With all the new Hot 12.6's race boards out on the market there is a lot of interest on how all the new boards are going stack up against one another.

Whats also encouraging is there are some good numbers of crew that just want to participate and have a fun race.

If your quick on the day you have a good chance to walk away with a $1000 bucks!! But lets not forget that its more about the bragging rights and the tall stories!

I still have 7x Naish 12.6 inflatable SUPs up for grabs. So if you know any one who may want to have a crack at the race get them to give me a call at the shop to lock in a board.

See ya soon
