Here it is, the big one after months of planning!

Opinions were sought and listened to as to where and when the best downwind conditions were in the State. It was a no brainer in the end, the Peel Coastline has it all - great waves, consistent wind and great direction.

We have a contingency for different wind directions so a race will happen on the day. Great cash prizes on offer and free goody bags from 32GI for all competitors.

Minimal Safety gear - PFD 1,2 or 3 (Inflatable type 1 is recommended), leg rope and 1 orange smoke flare.

Entries close on Monday the 3rd of December. If you are a non-SUPWA member you still pay $50 through the the SWA and pay the extra $15 on the day (sorry the site can't accommodate different pay scales)

https://www.surfingaustralia.com/wa/event.php?id=647

Late entries will be accepted at $80, so get your entries in early.

Registration and Briefing at Singleton Beach from 1130-1200
Start at Dawesville Cut at 1300.
We'll have a few trailers to take boards up to the start so everyone doesn't have to drive up from Singleton.
Presentations will be held at Singleton Beach. Race is 20km

A few of us did a practice run of the course today and it was nothing but smiles all around at then. It was nice to paddle past the estuary for once and not have to turn up it.

Totally agree Cam!!

Have to say it was the best DW run I have ever had!!

If you are thinking the 20km is too intimidating, and you are worried about entering this comp, I can safely say don't be scared and enter. The direction of the course is amazing as many have stated on the forum before, and you will have some of the best runs of your life!!

Can't wait for Saturday week to come around to do it again. YEW!!

Ditto

Great run, great company, barely felt like 10k's let alone 20.

I haven't done to many DWers but I think I learnt more today than I did in all the others put together.
I now understand all the talk about linking runners, so good when you do.

Best bit of coast for a land based start to do a DW run, it just got better and better the further you went, the wind direction perfect. Cant wait for the race.

I'd be keen as to go again this Sunday if conditions are good, it would be great to do it without having worked a nightshift the night before.

The Redink Homes King of the Cut is shaping up to be the biggest SUP downwind event of the year.
$2000 of prize money up for grabs, making it the biggest prize pool for any SUP race in WA. Anyone can win the King of the Cut - first male and first female across the line will be crowned King and Queen of the Cut (no matter what board - from a mass start).

The custom designed State SUPWA Medals for divisions.

Entries will now close on Wednesday the 5th of December at midnight.
You can still enter up until Friday 7th at midday (with a late entry fee of $80)

Get in early!

Looks great Greg. Can some tell us if you can change your entered division on the day depending on conditions ? If it's flat and no wind which I hope is not the case at all I may just have the board for that type of conditions

Hi Goochi your King of the Cut race sounds GOLD I like the mass start, at the Starting Line.
And it's $1,000 for the first Male And $1,000 for the first female (no matter what board) STOKED
Can you guys come over to the East Coast and run some races.

Just one question Goochi if a competitor has there own support boat e.g. Jet-Ski that competitor really doesn't have to wear a PFD vest am I right in saying that! you should put that in the waiver form. I know people will not like what I say but I find PFD vests a big wank in SUP racing
Minimal Safety gear - PFD 1,2 or 3 (Inflatable type 1 is recommended), leg rope and 1 orange smoke flare.

Hi Downwinder
It should be a pretty good run, You'll have to come over for it!

As far as safety, we have to abide by our local authorities/insurance - which is the minimal safety requirement. An inflatable PFD type 1 is pretty minimal anyway, but if you can afford a personal jet ski to follow you, I'm sure the DoT would have no problem with that! (we haven't had that query yet!). Like most events we need volunteers, so if someone does have a boat to follow the race, please let us know.

The $2000 is spread across the divisions - Male Open, O/40, O/50, Female, unlimited, etc. The King of the Cut is a perpetual trophy with an additional 'take home' trophy - no prize money (but you would win your division anyway)

A group of guys and girls, did the run on th eweekend and they still can't talk about it without smiling. All welcome to SUPWA events - interstate, overseas, come on over!

It's a hard to choose over 40 and try and take that out on a 14 or unlimited only problem is Hilly racing open now and the big fella is coming of some hard training at Mambo drinking and taking out a race win he's using my 17 dc which is quick I am assuming you and Rog Pete all entering the open age group as you all are just 40 not like us 46 year olds

We (and I mean me) will be checking ID at the start line to make sure everyone is in their correct age division and that includes everyone being over 40 and 50 in the overs and not in the opens to give us whipper snappers a chance in the opens, isn't that right Marcus, Ben and Jackson????

The only thing I am worried about for the O40's and O50's is that a race 20km long they might forget what they are doing and where they are going!
