Thanks Ali Cat
The Sprint Race is actually
9km not 8km and I took a really good line check out the Google Map. I did a time of 56:52 As I turned the buoy at the Alley, I dropped in on a Malibu rider and got the set wave and surfed it all the way to the break wall
stoked I had to stand on the tail of my f18 to lift the nose up so I wouldn't loose control
Thanks Surfing Queensland for putting on a great Downwind Race best Downwind Race in Australia outside of Maui.
It was a slow race as conditions had to much West in the wind WSW if the wind went SE it would have been pumping conditions as the wind was a good 15 to 20 Knots.
My Average Pace was 6:20 per Kilometres due to the westerly wind thats very slow.
There was 10 in the over 40’s Unlimited SUP Division
stoked. I haven’t been in this race since 2009 as I’m usually in Fiji surfing Cloudbreak. Anyway I was
stoked to compete in this years race and defend my 2009 over 40’s Unlimited SUP Division title in my 50’s.
I didn’t train for this event and haven’t done an ocean Downwind Paddle since March. I know one thing I’ll be in Maui in 3 weeks for a month paddling Maliko all day
stoked cant wait I’m just so excited I could pull my pants down and fire a rocket.
