so we can only have good reviews on stuff.....I guess thats why nut swinging is so popular around here....

just to clarify, it was the type with the white blade and a small half circle cut out of the bottom of the blade

Sounds like a fibreglass blade, is it? If so, a budget item not intended to be compared with the best paddles going around. But I can imagine it would feel pretty average in comparison.

The new 2012 Naish paddles are soooooo much better than any past Naish paddles.. I use the 8" blade in the adjustable when I was in Merimbula and I loved it.. I liked the skinny shaft and the flex but those not used to the flex might find them a bit soft.

The new 'real surfer' carries a paddle and he's proud of it.
The old 'real surfer' is long gone.
A changing of the guard perhaps.

Walking frame ( old and buggered )

The Boat Trailer ( weak cant carry his board )

The Donkey ( blind as a bat only means of transport )

Surely if you want to be taken seriously with your comment you should go on to explain why it was so bad.
Just saying it was bad doesn't cut it, explain yourself of don't say anything at all.

Sorry Serg that wasn't a review , that was a Grand Royal bash on Naish . Here's a fair but critical review on the new Carbina full carbon paddle. Super light , narrow shaft , super stiff , very small V head. The matt finish on the shaft makes it super grippy and the palm glossy grip falls nicely in your hand. There is minimal cavitation on the power stroke . The relaxed edge on the paddle has minimal impact on the rail of the board if you make contact. With the small head and ultra stiff shaft I found it too hard on my 48yr old shoulders. The shaft technology comes from their mast construction and I truly believe it would be almost impossible to break. Too much stiffness for this old fella but for a young racer i think this could be a
great paddle. My paddle of choice is still the Quick Blade Elite Racer for all occasions. IMHO

I used my wife's 7.5 adjustable recently and hated it, not really fair comparing to my QB, but once you have had a good paddle the Naish felt pretty average.

Prob ok for someone who knows no better.

Sorry my bad, 7.0. Either way it was the Alana paddle.

Ok to add to my "review" of this.

The adjustment was great, once locked into position it just stayed there. But the adjustment point just seemed to be in the wrong spot for me, I kept hitting it with my hand, meant I needed to adjust my normal stroke which I prob would have got used to over time. Overall the paddle didn't feel balanced at all, unlike my QB which seems to have a nice even weight distribution, this paddle didn't, which didn't feel good to me. And it just didn't offer the power I was expecting, even taking into account the small blade size.

Like I said, If I knew no better I may have thought it was great, it is certainly well made and does the job we bought it for great - paddle for my sometimes paddler wife and for friends to use when having a go. But wouldn't be on my list of recommendations for someone who paddles more often. I should point out I am also comparing it to a paddle they is $200 more expensive, I really have to comparison point of a similar price. Maybe at that price point it is a fantastic paddle also.
