WE'VE ALREADY DESIGNED & MADE SOME BOARDS THAT HAVE COME OUT AMAZING!!! AS EVERYONE KNOWS "NEV" THE MASTER & ONE OF THE BEST TOP SURFBOARD SHAPERS IN THE WORLD & MYSELF A SURFBOARD SHAPER OF 18YRS,SHAPED MY FIRST BOARD AT 14YRS OLD & THEN LATER DID MY TIME & WAS TAUGHT HOW TO SHAPER OFF STUART D'ARCY OF "D'ARCY SURFBOARDS" BUT BACK THEN HE WAS "POTTZ SURFBORD" IN CRONULLA (WERE WE BOTH GREW UP BUT I MOVED TO THE GOLDY IN 1991 & DARCY LATE 90'S.IN 2004 I MOVED TO W.A WHERE I HAD MY OWN LABEL "O'MEARA SURFBOARDS" BUT AFTER BREAKING MY NECK SURFING IN INDO IN 2010 I MOVED BACK TO THE GOLDY (CURRUMBIN) & WHILE TRYING TO GET BACK ON MY FEET & GET MY HEALTH BACK I BEGAN TO RIDE SUPS BECAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET BACK IN THE WATER ....NOW 12MONTHS LATER MY NECK SLOWLY GETTING BETTER I

HAVE HOOKED UP WITH NEV & NOW ARE MAKING SUP'S HERE 100% AUSTRALIAN MADE HERE ON THE GOLDY!! ...I'M NOT GOING INTO DETAILS ABOUT MATERIALS BUT WE'VE JUST MADE A 8"6X 27 X4 DROP RAIL SUP WITH A VERY VERY STRONG GLASS JOB & IT WEIGHS IN WITH DECK GRIP AT JUST ON 6KG'S!!! THATS 1/2 THE WEIGHT IF NOT MORE THAN SOME OTHER BOARDS THIS SIZE!!! THIS BOARD IS AMAZING!!! & SURFS LIKE A SHORT BOARD,SERIOUSLY THESE BOARDS WILL CHANGE THE WAY SUP SURFBOARDS CAN BE RIDDEN!!! THIS IS THE PICTURE OF THE 8"6 BELOW. IVE GOT A 9'0 SITTING INFRONT OF ME ATM THAT WE MADE THIS WEEK & I'M FROTHING ON WHEN IT WILL BE FINISH BEING GLASSED SO I CAN RIDE IT!!! Sorry dont take this the wrong way but that looks nothing special!! there have been shapers all over Aus including some on the goldy and the boys in Sydney doing step rail boards for quite some time all coming in at around 6kg, there are plenty of Production SUP's at that weight as well maybe not in the cheap china siht but the bigger brands are on to it. Stoked Nev has jumped on the band wagon but if i was going to buy a board i would be looking at some one who has been doing sup's for quite some time and has already being through most of the learning curve. Step rails are bit of a love hate thing some people love them most hate them!!

one step rails, i've had a few, but the current one will be the last. i reckon you lose to much in handling

If you lose in handling wats the point? I thought the finer rail improved handling? Why else do u step down rails?

not the surfing part, just the general paddling around with chop, sweeps, kick turns etc.

you do lose volume out there so when the board dips, it stays dipped longer than a normal board.

me, i'll just go a nice rail next time

Chrispy,Bob does not mate sup's,however some OS factory mates them.
I agree tho,not a fan.
Nev making sup's,it could only be a good thing imo,he made some great SB's back in the day.

I can tell you, you won't see a sup in the shaping bay.

That video I got off the McTavish site tonight.

I'm never at the factory, and while it may be true that Bob doesn't make SUP's, I've say he had something to do with the design of them.

Very old video and yes he designed that sup,his focus is not on sup's,he enjoys shaping unique designs and shaping some of his early stuff now days.I've been riding his boards for over 15 years now and as much as I am a massive McT fan,I have never rated the sup side,have a look at the blog and spoons from 1 to 5,some great stuff.
