Who else are we rooting for? I don't care what company, hometown or training group there from... What other Aussies are in the race?

That's not very (parochial) QLD of you CMC

Yeah I know, as I grow more mature (37 rather than 36) I am realizing that the world is actually bigger than the 5km round bubble I live, surf, paddle and work in.

To prove my point, on the weekend I went to Southport

Mick Dibetta is in good form and had trained super hard in the Prone.

Dale Chapman is solo as well.

Alain, French guy but from here.

Will's pretty fit and fired up at the moment so hopefully could bust in to the top 5 or 6.
Kissa will be home I think.

G'day CMC
Not doing Molokai I'm just here on Maui Paddling Maliko and having fun drinking beer eating at Yogurt Land. I achieved what I wanted to achieve in the 2010 Molokai Race. Come second to Dave Kalama in the over 40's SOLO unlimited SUP and do time between 5 - 5 1/2 hour. I can't see myself ever doing Molokai again and once you've Paddled in the Pai'lolo Channel Race you will never look at Molokai again.

There is also another Currumbin paddler there atm aswell,

Phil Nicolle on a 14fter - Phil came in 48th Overall and 4th in his Division with a time of 1:31:56, not bad for a guy that doesn't really get downwind time working in Singapore.

He also doing Molokai as a 2 Person team

Good luck in the Molokai to all the Aussie's!

"Quote from the Zone"

To their credit, the contest organizers went back and changed the results. Kai was deducted 30 seconds for not racing in the correct division. Kalama won. The video shows it when DK arrives at the finish. He looks around, no one is near him so he just cruises and steps off his board like a sunday stroll.... and walked up the finish line. Kai had the previous start three minutes ahead and was already in.

If you're running with bulls, you have to line up on the same start with them. So it was good. Dave won it fair and square.

That's good that gave it to DK as he could have been cruising thinking I've got this one in the bag and not really been pushing as hard thinking he is in first place!!
You shouldn't be allowed to start in different class as your own I would have thought you would be disqualified ??

All turned out OK but I think Kai is very lucky not to be DQ he made a mistake starting where he did.

Great result by the Aussies , looking good for Molokai

From what I understood Kai started with the 14's, on a 14' - the cock-up is this Elite field classification - if you want to win money you have to enter elite field (and pay a higher entry fee) and in this case, then supposedly also start with elite field, irrespective of board.

What I don't fully agree with is when quite a few "non-elite racers" beat the elite guys but are then denied prizemoney and placings (happened in the Triple-crown as well) - it just doesn't make sense to me. You beat a guy but get un-beaten because you paid another entry fee....how about just one entry fee then?

Maybe there are other dynamics I haven't understood....?

The race setup for this one was pretty complicated...

- Two different board types (SUP and prone)
- Three different SUP board classes (12'6", 14', Unlimited)
- Two different race classes (Elite and non-Elite)
- Five different age divisions
- 33 different prize divisions (and therefore, 33 different winners, or potentially 99 different podium finishers...)
- Three or four different start times

So far I've seen three different lists of the results and three different times for Kai.

How about a good old mass start, first over the line wins?

well, if that was the case and say there were 200 entrants - then you just had to beat one guy to hit the podium....
