I'm actually surprised he hasn't done it sooner, given he pretty much single-handedly popularised this ridiculous sport and isn't really getting anything out of it. Mate it's taken a while but I'm off you and your conceit. From your posts my judgement is I am about your age (47), have surfed probably as long (since 1974) in maybe more places and may or may not still be able to do you up.

So here's what I reckon. How about a shortboard heat? Let's settle on a neutral quality wave somewhere between WA and Cooly, we'll try to do it at short notice so we can get good conditions and no complaints about wave quality. We bring 2 judges each and one neutral, call it a 60 min heat for old farts. Or 3 x 30min heats if you prefer. If I win, you f...k off off this forum, if you win I'll give you my SUP. You won't use it, but you can sell it.

You can talk the talk, let's see you walk.

I'm away until Mon will check back on this forum then.

Oh noes, the grumpy old SUPers don't like my posts! And a surf-off at high noon will solve it! For all you know I could be Dane himself, or I could be a total beginner. And yet my posts fire you up so much you're willing to travel at short notice between Qld and WA and risk a $1000 board? I'm flattered.

Legion .. I was going to write to your privately, but seeing as it's all public, I'll write it here.

These forums are all about enjoying our sports.

If you think the sport is not for you, then please refrain from posting stuff like above, as it's not adding anything, it's only subtracting.

These forums were setup for people who love their sport to get more out of it, to talk with people who enjoy it. Not to argue with people who don't like it -- that's trolling.

Please - if you don't like the sport, and don't do the sport, please do not post here.

Thanks for the clarification Laurie. I started visiting the SUP forums to learn about it and why people enjoy it. I stay generally because of posts by people who have a similar background, loca4olas, tha dogman, Brooko, a number of others.

I don't like Laird's persona. Not a fan at all. So that's why I clicked on this thread, watched the linked video and commented. For exactly the same reasons that paul.j, AA and CMC stated. He's a caricature of Lance Burkhart, art becomes life.

I'll keep posting thanks. Ban me or whatever if you want, although I'm curious on what grounds. I'd see it as pretty contradictory if you ban me and let those stay who attack me, and swear etc, which I see as fairly direct contravention of the forum policies. Maybe you need a proviso in the policies to require participation and enjoyment in each sport for each forum. Most heated discussions I get involved in are only in response to attacks from people who obviously get very riled by my posts. On the contrary, I try to remain polite and calm and avoid any personal attacks.

Censorship usually makes for a pretty boring forum, and is the main reason I was slow to get involved on seabreeze. I don't like moderation.

P.S. I'll compile a list of SUPers, longboarders, kiters and windsurfers who've posted on the shortboard forum for you to request to stop posting as well. Segregation is important, right.

What I'm suggesting, Legion, is that if you're here to call SUP "this ridiculous sport ", maybe your energy is best spent elsewhere.

There appear to be plenty of top blokes (and girls) on here. But when this forum is responsible for multi-page threads on the merits of Power Bands, and special finbox inserts for middle-aged, overweight noobs to learn to balance, etc I find it hard to restrain myself. I'll try to bite my tongue.
