Any other locals looking for the "waist pfd" made by Marlin ?

Call Andy or Macca at "Paddles Australia" on 5438 8211. They are located at 2/22 Tandem Ave at Warana (at the lights near Lake Kawana Thurs night paddle location).

its ging to be a fun run in any conditions

i think if its stays as a light NE its from yaroomba to mooloolaba. personally i have the most fun downwinding in light winds. better scenary in this direction, my favourite part of the coast!
Apparently northerlies create better runners?

Sue
Given the light conditions expected for Sunday ( N/ NE 10-15kts), will the start for SUP's be 1:30 pm still.
If the ski's and outriggers also start then, then the fastest first stand up paddlers will be coming in at least 30mins to an hour behind other craft paddlers.
Perhaps a slightly earlier send off will be better?
Also will the 12'6 boards do the same course or a slightly shorter one?

Hey John..we have decided that the SUP's will start 1/2 hr earlier than the rest of the field. So the SUP race will start at 1.00pm.

Regarding the second question...I asked for everyone's opinions on this 2 days ago and have only had one private message re: the length of the 12'6" race. The last two years the 12'6" did a shorter course. The logistics of it being shorter are harder for organisers as we need officials in two different area's including support craft/boats, timers etc

We will be making a final decision on this tomorrow around lunch time and I will post here.

With the current weather predictions the course looks set to run from North to South.

Please register online or arrive at the registration tent early between 10am - 11.30am. All registrations at Charles Clark Park at Mooloolaba.

Even if you register online you still must come to the registration tent on the day to sign in and receive your race number.

All 14' and Unlimited length SUP's will start at 1.00pm from Point Arkwright (17.5km). You will be briefed up there on the beach before you paddle out.

All 12'6" SUP will start at 1.30pm from Mudjimba Surf Club (10km).
You will be briefed on the water. Please be out on the water at 1.20pm and wait for Danny & I to arrive via boat from the North to brief and start you.

All competitors MUST have a leg rope and PFD (personal floatation device).

Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

Add another 2.5km in the River to get to the finish at Charles Clark Park and it's pretty close to 10km and 19km (maybe slightly shorter for the long course, but how many people actually paddle in a straight line in the ocean?).

All the way to the finish via straight line using Google Maps is 17.5km from Pt Arkwright and 10km from Mudjimba. The Outriggers and Surf Ski's are heading out to sea at the start to a bouy which is the additional 1.5km in the long course.

But SUP's will not do this. They will go straight line to Mooloolaba from the start line.

Hi Sue, Can you just clarify do you HAVE to register AT Mooloolaba (to sign a waiver) as well as online?

It's just that I live right next to the start line at Mudjimba....

Yes All competitors must have a PFD. The ski paddlers actually have to wear theirs as per the rules for open ocean marathon ski racing. Outrigger rules state they must be on the craft or person for all open ocean races.

Danny and I are once again heavily involved with the running of this event including logistics, registrations, briefings, starting all races, escort boat co-ordination, communication, time keeping and result recording. Us doing this is far more beneficial to the overall success of the event and for the Children's Therapy Centre than our participation.
