Seen a doco on this bloke a few years ago when he was flying with his mate and his mate got cut in 1/2 by a bridge cable. Scary stuff and I guess he will die doing what he loves one day. Hope to Christ that doesn't happen but he's doing his best.

Jeb knows the story well, he was on the same jump and ended up covered in his mate's blood and guts.

This is the doco:

Fast forward to 5:30 for the time poor

Lost a good mate about 8 years ago to base jumping in Norway, he was a veteran
jumper but his chute failed. These base jumping guys are truly "different" people.

Theres a mataphor that goes when you start BASE jumping you have two jars. One is empty and is labelled "Experience". The other one is full of marbles and is labelled "Luck". Every time you do a BASE jump you move one marble from the full jar into the empty one.

I was going to post the same vid.. Jeez he's lucky to get away with that.. Half an inch lower and they would not have much of him to put back together.. He was soooo lucky to get away with that.

Probably going to regret writing this when I re read this in the morning.

The difference between Base Jumpers and old bald guys wearing go pro cameras on their heads paddling a lame Stand Up paddle board across some dirty lake, is:

base jumpers go to more exotic locations;
base jumpers take far more risks;
base jumpers are younger;
Base jumpers are living now;
Base jumpers are way cooler to watch;
Base jumpers probably have rich parents;
Base jumpers don't have wives or children;
Base jumpers don't need a forum to discuss what they do;

I knew I'd regret this post.

base jumpers go to more exotic locations; Nah - they never come to Perth... wonder why???
base jumpers take far more risks; undoubtedly
base jumpers are younger; what happened to the comment about the baldies
Base jumpers are living now; I dunno, sunning yourself in a warm ocean on a board is awesome laid-back living now
Base jumpers are way cooler to watch; only because you are waiting to see it all go south
Base jumpers probably have rich parents; yeah - I buy that
Base jumpers don't have wives or children; probably
Base jumpers don't need a forum to discuss what they do; www.basejumper.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi

No cliffs high enough?

base jumpers take far more risks; undoubtedly

Yep!

base jumpers are younger; what happened to the comment about the baldies

deleted it due to the fact I'd probably offend all of the baldies here - it's not their fault that they are old and bald.

Base jumpers are living now; I dunno, sunning yourself in a warm ocean on a board is awesome laid-back living now

debatable

Base jumpers are way cooler to watch; only because you are waiting to see it all go south

probably

Yeah

Yeah

Base jumpers don't need a forum to discuss what they do; www.basejumper.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi

They don't need it though, sup forums and many other forums do that job for them. I doubt you'd see a topic about sup boarding on that forum!

DVD? What's that? Aren't all videos now available free on Vimeo or Youtube?

I wonder why he chose that rocky place at Table Mountain to train? If it was the grassy slope in Europe from Grinding the Crack he may have just skimmed the surface and got some grass burns on his knees. Maybe add some kevlar knee pads to the suit and go a bit harder.

Sounds like he used up 2 marbles on that last one!

It looked like he also hit the rock in the earlier table mountain video, or is it the same video? He also had a canopy malfunction so maybe that counts as an extra marble! Yes, make it 3 marbles. That jar must be getting low by now.

Fark me that's so heavy , amazed he still managed to pull the Shute. Talk about pushing the envelope . I bet the US military is looking hard at this , just imagine what the elite teams like Seal Team 6 (the one's that rubbed out Bin Laden) could pull off , these guys are the elite of the elite and do some crazy sh!t with high altitude jumps with seriously low deployment of the Shute , they are probably working on landing without the parachute.

Yeah I've heard they are trying work out to land in a side tube like the emergency escape tubes on a ship to a life raft.It would be like a giant wind sock without the mesh inserts. Farking insane. If guys like Travis Grant can jump out of a plane with no shute it can't be that far off.
