Where do we need to go to rego and at what time?

If it's anything like today's swell the shore break should provide some entertainment

Well it was an eventful one for me. The SIC 17' Bullet loved chasing the runs left and right and for the first 12ish kms I was surprised how well my plan to just relax and go after the sure things went.

Then the rudder cable pin broke and I limped on a little while on my knees until the last paddler went past and I realised I'd just hold people up waiting for me. I waved down the maritime boat and told them I'd go into the shore. That was a bit iffy with no rudder so I basically got dumped and rolled and dragged 4 or 5 times then staggered out of the surf straight onto a nudist beach. Only two 'old fellas' there but naturally I got their attention and the full view. They didn't seem to have a mobile on them so I flagged down a passing fisherman and tried his phone. Left a message and found out later he called again but miscommunicated where I was. Spent a while on the beach - eventually tried another guy's phone who's first sentence to me was 'sorry I wasn't shouting at you - having all these gay guys around is making it really hard for me as I've just stopped taking adhd meds and I gotta go'. There were quite a lot of male couples emerging from the dunes. Anyway I eventually staggered back into the Naked Fig - could have used a few of those where I was. Never racing without my own phone and case and cr card again.

All was good once I got a pint (thanks Starboard!).

What is better than a bit of glory and a tale to tell and some good mates? Not much except doing it again next week at the King of the Cut...

PS Sam/WSS don't suppose you've got some rudder pedal pins you could send over before the race next weekend? It snapped at the drilled hole. You would be saving a soul.

The Fig to Fig would have to go down as one of the best SUPWA events yet - and that's saying something when you consider all the great events SUPWA have put on in their short history !! The level of organisation, the commitment by the sponsors, the turn out of competitors, and the general feeling of stoke was truly amazing. Us SUPers in WA are very fortunate indeed.

AWESOME event.
Huge thanks to the Fig Cafe cafe for putting up so many great prizes. Top food, great location.
Great to see so many of the states more experienced paddlers hanging back and giving advise and support to the new comers, and everyone waiting at the finish line to cheer others in. I have never seen so many new faces at a SUP event before in WA.
Thanks to Starboard also for the pick a prize table. Top job SUPWA crew.
