Hey my good sweeping friends, hows everyones stoke? My stoke level has tipped the scales today I went and sold my trusty, first love 11'2, went to the shop and bought myself the 9'8 x 30 TAC. Took it straight to the beach and went for a paddle. HOW STOKED AM I!? What a beautiful looking board. Not much swell aound in Perth at all today but I managed to escape the dog eat dogs at Trigg Point and found myself a breaking wave at *cough cough* I cant wait to get some Gopro footage but will have to warn everyone in advance that my smile is from ear to ear So if this offends you please look away or maybe go back to surfing the short board with the rest of them Here are some photos I took after it got wet this morning... DJ style
I am soooooooo jealous, it looks magnificent. My new TAC finish Pocket Rocket is in a truck somewhere between Perth and Melbourne right now. Hope to pick it up on Friday.

As long as we don't have to look up your shorts then you can post anything you like. Even more so now that you've got wood.
In regards to the grip I dont actually mind it the way it is. But I do wanna grip half way. I personally like the soft feel plus it will protect the deck from dings and scratches Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of getting black and brown grip, cutting it up to match the existing graphics on the deck.
How sweet do they look, I just picked up my 9'x33" TAC hero on Tuesday and it looked awesome, I've only got to have a quick paddle out at wategos last night in tiny fat little waves with 50 of my closest friends, but it feels great underfoot, although I think I agree with you, a long session and I think I'll be gratefull of some padding under the feet. I'll write my impressions when I've had more time on it May we hope they never ding.... fat chance unfortunately
p.s. sorry no photos, just imagine greenrooms shorter and wider:)
Very sweet looking board. Is it hollow inside? Have you weighed it? It would be a shame to cover that nice pattern up, I'd give the booties a try and see how you go with them - works well for me. Look forward to seeing one in the flesh.
Nice board & great finish in TAC. I'm feeling your stoke, I just picked up own 9'8 Element yesterday (although in the Tufskin Camo, would have loved the TAC but this is my 1st SUP, so wanted something durable & comfy on the feet). Had my 1st paddle this arvo in flat water in Newy harbour (until a big ship & 4 tugs came thru, that got interesting for a newbie). I'm stoked so far with my choice, need to practise lots then can't wait to get out in the surf away from people and see how it surfs (hopefully when it's small & clean to start with). How's the TAC finish for grip & comfort?
For a moment there i thought you were going to say you bought yourself a vagina.
Neat ride BTW.
Got one of those and they are over-rated - would much rather have Greenroom's board!
Pardon my ignorance, but what does TAC stand for? is it a brand or is it the timber finish?
Greenroom, I think it would be a pity to cover it up with grip. The spray-on option or the booties sound like they're worth a try first. The Hobie Stingers have a textured spray-on finish up front, kind of a bit like 'sandpaper' & I think they are going to be selling that product soon? (not pimping!).
And dogman, who did you say the new board was for?????
Happy SUPping Greenroom - we won't mind smily video, just hurry up with it. Cheers Mel
Yeah still stoked everyone The grip on it now is actually quite good. It feels smoother than last years. It almost looks like a fabric. The bonus is that with the wood construction it doesnt add weight like with the EVA. I probably wouldnt just wack on any old grip. I was thinking of cutting out the same pattern and using the same colours. But I gotta hunt for something I like. The other reason why I wanted to grip it was to protect it from foot dents and dings. TAC stands for The Artic Challenge. Theres a story behind it on the Starboard website.
Hey locos, Thanks for the starboard link. What an eye opener! They are basically saying that Greenroom's lovely new board doesn't actually need a deckgrip as the finish they put over the timber, called Startouch, is actually grippy (without being abrasive)? And who would've thought someone would design a two piece board!!!!!! My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw that picture - undo 4 screws and you have two pieces for easy transport and storage! Love to hear a review on it ????? or have I had my head in the sand and missed that one? If the latter is the case, apologies, I am a bit of a sporadic visitor to the breeze!
My TAC Pocket Rocket arrived today but was apparently irrepairably damaged in transit from WA. Second time in three weeks I've had a board suffer that same fate. What are these %^#&ing drivers doing? Too busy trying to run down Tony Abbott?

Guess I'll be waiting for at least another week, and possibly month(s) depending on stock before I am smiling as broadly as Greenroom.
