It's taken 5 years for the Aussies to get a solo SUP crown at Molokai, so to win both the. Men's and women's at the same time is AWESOME!!!
makes you proud to be an Aussie paddler!

Did you see the bit where Kai explained how he saw himself win using the southerly passage in a dream, so that's why he used that tactic. And Connor followed him assuming he was the greatest threat. Oops.

Huge congratulations to Travis and Terrene and the rest of the Australian contingent, and to all of the people back in Australia that support, help, train with and encourage this outstanding group of Aussies. Hopefully next on the agenda is Keahi and Shakira (along with all the others!!) dominating the SUP surfing tour the package will then be complete!!

I guess one could say if Hawaii won't come to the world championships, the only way to know is to beat them at their own game, in their own back yard.

Yeeew!!! Awesome effort guys and girls. Well done, and while you aren't officially representing Australia, I'm sure everyone here is damn proud.

Well said Serg! Always most satisfying beating someone at their own game!

The Aussie men have dominated the prone race since the race started - taking 14 victories from 17 years.

In the womens prone race, Hawaiian Kanessa Duncan, was a standout for many years, with 8 wins, but only the Aussie girls have been able to break her stranglehold, with victories to Hayley Bateup (2003), Shakira Westdorp (2007), and now 3 consecutive wins to Jordan Mercer (2011, 2012 & 2013).

But the Hawaiian's have dominated the SUP race since it's inception in 2006, and how good is it to see that stranglehold broken in both the men's and women's races at the same time.

The Aussie men have been at the top of the sport worldwide for a number of years, but until now, the Molokai crown had eluded them. Awesome to see Travis add that last piece to the puzzle!

But I'm even more stoked about Terrene's victory (call me biassed all you like)!

The Aussie girls have been paddling strong for a while, and there have been standout performances on the international stage, like Shak's victory in the 2009 BOP, but it's only in the last 12-18 months, where the girls results have gotten more frequent and more consistent. Awesome to see victories like Terrene's today, and Angie's at the ISA, (as well as other recent international victories to these girls) really cement our place in this sport, so the rest of the world can start to see the Aussie girls as a powerhouse in the sport, and in the same light as our men.
