Haven't tried the 9-6 pro that good be a good choice.

Ordered the PSH 8'9" Hull Ripper Carbon.

I'll provide a report once it and the swell arrive.

whats the smallest the hull rippers come in??

doesnt seem to be any small ones on the website??

im guessing they are all ment to be ridden long too??

JB, the general 'rule of thumb' is to go 3" longer than what you would normally ride. It is only a 'guide', but the extra length is not a disadvantage with the Hull Rippers as they feel like they surf shorter than their length, for example Piro's feeling comfortable on a 9'2 HullR coming off the 8'11 Ripper.

Once you are on the wave you are planing on only 22-24" of flat bottom ( the 9'6 Hull Ripper has 23" of flat between the chines), which is one reason why they generate so much speed and flow so nicely between turns. Carrying more speed also allows you to jam harder turns!

Finally got the 9-6 HR carbon pro wet last night in epic 4 foot Greenmount, super fast sucky waves the board was insane. Very fast and draws really nice clean lines, it doesn't throw around like the 9-2 but it really carves turns, the board just keeps accelerating through the bottom and cutbacks. Its paddling speed is insane for it's size by far the fastest board I have ever paddled by a long way. I got smashed last night getting caught inside and was swept down 300m the board just motored back against the current and wind.

It's a back foot board so you need to move your feet . I didn't put a kick pad on this one but you do need it not so much for grip but a locator. I surfed some very steep walls last night , didn't get out of the water until 7.30pm (Qld time) the board held in amazingly well high in the pocket which gave me the confidence to push through the sections in total darkness.

Stability wise not as stable as the 9-2 wide HR but still easy to stand on , even after 3 hours I only had minor leg fatigue and only tea bagged a couple of times , so it gets a 8 out 10 for stability.

Surf wise Full performance board you don't need to ride it to see that, it's outer plane shape is beautiful, advanced riders will love this board so would intermediates, you can ride it at full throttle or pull back and be the cross stepping style master .Also with it's paddle speed makes a great family board in the creeks and rivers or a cross fit trainer when there's no surf.
